  • Hi! Im new and i need help!

Hey everyone. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now and I see the wonderful support you guys offer and I decided to join.
Here is my problem, I am going to be 20 this month and I am getting married in march. I want to lose 30 pounds before my wedding. I started induction on friday and I lost 5 pounds but then gained 3 right back! I haven't lost any inches either! What could I be doing wrong? I've been excercising my butt off and I have been at a plateau for about 4 days! I've been excercising like a fiend and only cheated (by accident) once when i ate BBQ Basil chicken. (didnt know it had sugar) The KetoStix only have me as burning a small amount of fat.
Could it be that i am losing at a much slower rate because i dont have as much to lose as other people? I heard that only those with a lot of weight to lose see drastic results. I am 5"1 and i started out at 136 lbs. I am currently 132. Is 105 lbs too high of a goal?
I think it may be because I thought it was okay to eat Mckdonalds grilled chicken (just the patty!). Is their chicken processed?
    Please offer me some feedback.

Hi Nathalya! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Everyone loses at different rates, no matter how good they're being. It's true, the less you need to lose the slower it comes off, but not so slow.

A plateau is when you see no weight loss for over 30 days, I don't think you're there yet! What I can tell you is that if you're not eating enough food, your body will go into what's called "Starvation Mode" and you won't lose weight because your body will think you are starving it.

Be sure to always eat at or above 1200 calories to avoid this. Drink 8 glasses of water, be sure to eat three cups of vegetables every day and most important, do not stay on induction past the 14 days. it's very important to bump yourself up the food ladder so you are consuming the proper foods.

I would say that 4 pounds so far is great! This is not a quick weight loss scheme, but rather a lifestyle of healthier eating.

Thanks so much for responding. I was starting to think no one would! I lost 5 but i gained 3. I know my body doesnt think im starving or else i wouldnt be able to gain (would I?)Could it be that i am overeating? In the morning i eat 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon and 1 sausage link. In the afternoon i buy a plate of BBQ Basil chicken and Broccoli and i eat half for lunch and the other half for dinner. Is that okay?

Welcome to ADBB Nathalya, I am glad you are here with us. I would have responded earlier but I knew one of the ladies could help you better. I see that Sillygirl did just that.
I was so big and lost a bunch of weight at the beginning, I didn't want to confuse you.
Congrats on your upcoming wedding, I am sure you will be a stunning bride.

Thank You. Have you ever heard of someone gaining weight while in induction?

Re: Hi! Im new and i need help!

Here's a link for you. You need to do some reading around, particularly about the part about the harris benedict equation, but it will help you understand your caloric needs. While calories don't matter so much with this way of eating, they are still important in that you can eat too little, or too much and defeat all your efforts.

            http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

Also, I don't think you are eating enough veggies. You should be having 2 cups of "salad" veggies off of the allowed list, and one cup of other veggie (like your broccoli) every day during the first two weeks (Induction). Starting week 3 you will be adding even more veggies into your diet. We have a veggie challenge coming up on October 22, I would urge you to join it. Most people are surprised that they are not getting enough veggie carbs each day.

Lastly, go take a look at www.fitday.com. it's a site where you can log all your food intake, exercise etc and it will tell you your calories and percentage of foods. In Induction, you should be having approximately 30% protein 5-8% carb and
            62-65% fat.

Why are you still having the BBQ basil chicken if you know it has sugar in it? That's what you list as a sample menu.

Re: Hi! Im new and i need help!

Hi Nathalya! Welcome to ADBB, you have came to the right place for help and support.
Many Warm Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. It is such a lovely exciting time for you. My Son and his wife just got married about 10 weeks ago...It was fab.

Everyone of us loses weight at different rates, take me for instance, I am very overweight still, and I am losing quite slowly compared to some people on here, you will notice however, that as your body changes your weight re-distributes around your body and frame so I urge you strongly to take a note of your measurements Nathalya! these are more substantial than actual weight loss showing on the scales!

I have so far lost 30 Pounds, but much better than that, I have lost 21.5 inches all over my body.
As you gain muscle and lose weight your body changes very dramatically!

I would also agree that 4 pounds so far is doing just great! It doesn't matter whether it is half a pound a week or 2 pounds per week as long as you are losing and not gaining. and the slower it comes off, I think the better it is for all of us as it will also help to reabsorb the loose skin better and your frame will be more defined, hence less saggy skin to worry about once all the weight has gone!

Also, just a tip take up some form of exercise, it really does shift the stubborn pounds, if you don't like walking, running or going to the gym, take up dancing, its real fun, thats what me and my friend do, Ceroc and Salsa.
                        Best of Luck x
