  • Trying to get this right!

Hi everyone! I am new and have been lurking on these boards for several weeks. I actually started Atkins a few weeks ago, but fell off the wagon. I am fully committed this time though because I lost 5 pounds in those 2 weeks and in one weekend gained 3 back by making wrong choices. I need all the support I can get. I need to exercise but I absolutely hate it. Any words of advice or tips to help make this any easier!!
    Shannon

I'm glad you made it thru 2 weeks. That tells you that you can do induction without a struggle.

    This time, try the following:

    1. Do the 2 weeks of induction and move immediately to OWL.

    2. Start out by taking a 15 minute walk every day. Do this for 2 weeks. After that, you can re-evaluate the exercise part of this wol.

    3. Post every single day.

    You can do it!
    Start date: 7/29/2007

    Scale: SW:235 CW:193
    GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

    Mini goals:
    215 - met 9/10/07
    205 - met 10/17/07
    195 - met 2/20/08
    180

    I survived a two-month stall!

Thanks for the advice! You know the most ridiculous part of the exercise thing is that I have an elliptical sitting right in my living room. It looks like you have lost almost 30 pounds already...that is great! What type of things do you eat that seem to make it easier for you? I also see that you may have the same issue as me with getting the eater down. I did get the 64 oz in yesterday but I see these other people posting that they are getting in like 100 oz. I kinda makes me feel like I am only doing the bare minimum on the water thing. Also, I know that we are supposed to look at calories but when I put in my menu in SparkPeople...I ate 2600 cals yesterday...that can't be good.

Re: Trying to get this right!

Welcome Shannon! Happy to have you join us.

Evermind gave you good advice about exercise. Walking is a good way to start, and it's easy to increase. You'll soon get into a routine. My tip is that you get your exercise done very early in the day so you don't have to worry about it.

The water is hard for some, but with perseverance it really does get easier. Soon you'll come to crave it. Keep chugging!

Post lots and update us as to your progress. We're all behind you 100%.
        Before and after:

Thanks so much for the support!! I really need to get this weight off. I will try to get the exercise in early, but with my schedule, that is easier said than done.

Re: Trying to get this right!

I don't have much in the way of advice for you - I just had it confirmed yesterday I've been doing the whole thing wrong for the past 7 weeks!

But, I can tell you that you cannot do it alone - as much as it sucks to talk about it sometimes, even if you slip. Because you know what? We're all human and we're all going to slip. But with the right kind of support you just get back up and carry on as if it never happened.

And, aside form the obvious health reasons, it is SO worth it to get the weight off. Last year I had lost a total of 83 pounds and everyday I felt like a celebrity. People couldn't stop complimenting me, shopping was so much fun, etc etc. As someone who has been heavy for 37 years, it was a nice change! The feel-goods are nice!!

One thing I did before...I set mini goals for myself. If I had started out thinking I had 85 pounds to lose, I'd have been like a deer in the headlights, not sure where to go. I set 5 pound goals for the first 20 pounds and then it was 10 pound goals after that. And, each time I met a goal, I celebrated - and not with food! I bought myself shoes, skirt, etc. just for my own personal reward.

You can do it. And...this is the ideal time to lose. Winter is lurking and with it comes bulky sweaters (I live on the East Coast) and big boots, etc. So when Spring comes, you shed the bulk and TA-DAH!! You're this little tiny thing that nobody recognizes!

That is so true!! I am really going to work hard at it! Thank you so much for all of the support! I means the world to me. I need to set some non-scale goals too!
