  • New to this site

Hi to all! My name is Lisa and I am from Vt. I am new to this site but not to Atkins. Been on and off of it several times. Each time I lost weight, but each time I gained it back with some extra. My problem is sticking with it. So I thought I would join here and get some additional support. And perhaps, just maybe, I can help someone else along the way. I am 39, stay at home mom, and am way overweight. Been overweight my whole life, but now it has gotten way out of control. I do have a few health issues, hypothyroid, high blood pressure, depression(under control), asthma, and a joint disorder (EDS). So take all those meds, add in the fact I am not the most active person, not a couch potato, but could be better and I have a hard time losing weight. Atkins has been about the only thing that has worked for me in the past several years. I started Atkins again on the 6th of this Oct. As of this morning 5 pds gone. So here it is, my stats..... yuck.....
    S/W 280
    T/W 275
    1st goal 250
    2nd goal 220
    3rd goal < 200
My ultimate goal is more of a pant size than a weight. I want to be back at where I was in high school, about an 18. Right now I am a 26/28. So I have some work to do.

Welcome to ADBB Lisa! Happy you decided to join up with us!

We all understand where you're coming from when you say you have a hard time sticking with it. Lots of us do too, and that's where this board can be so very, very helpful. You'll find masses of encouragement and support here, plus loads of tips, info, recipes, challenges, journals.... you name it!

Have you checked out the Second Time Around Club (STAC). Lots of cool members there who fell off Atkins at least once. Many of them got to goal comfortably.

                Happy losing! Keep us posted.

                  Re: New to this site

Welcome! I'm a newcomer to this board too but not to Atkins. But we're back and we know it works. With the support from this board I know you and I can do this! And I too am looking forward to smaller sizes even more than pounds. Gonna dust off my treadmill and add exercise to Atkins. The first time I did it I didn't do any exercise and I really feel that working out can help "sculpt" the body better than just the losing lb's from eating the wonderful WOE-Atkins! Just reading the successes on this board is a great way to stay motivated!

Hey there Lisa. Welcome to the board. You will find alot of support on this board. We're all here for the same reason and the board is part of what keeps us going.

We have a pedometer challenge that's ongoing, maybe you'd like to join. You can get a little pedometer and pledge whatever you wish for the week. You can start with even 500 steps if you want. We've been doing it for 15 weeks now and you would be amazed at how quickly the steps rack up! It's fun as well.

I'll see you around the board.

Welcome aboard Lisa, so nice to meet you. I have a feeling this go around will be your last. You seem determined to stay the course this time.
Your health is the major issue and by doing Atkins your conditions should improve.
I agree with Silly, get over to the pedometer challenge and do a little walking with us.
There is so much support and motivation here coupled with a truck load of challenges. Browse around and find the one that suits you.
I look forward to hearing your success stories, so post often. ttyl, brady
