Okay I'm here, Hi everybody! I am a 36 year old mother of two. I started dieting last Feb. 2007 - you know the one with Christie Alley. Well I dropped some weight, but not enough. Plus I found that the food was just too sweet. After I left the program I found the Atkins diet and soon fell in love. When I started Atkins I weighed in at 213 lbs. Aug.2007

The first time through induction I dropped 7 lbs. I literally found that the weight was just dropping off. It was so strange I think I felt it - really. I knew what parts of my body the fat was coming off of. At first I thought it was all in my head, but then my husband mentioned it too. (I put him on the diet too)

I think we may have stayed on induction to long the first time around. It was somewhere around 5 weeks. My body just couldn’t take it anymore - the cheese was really starting to back up on me. I didn’t know where to turn. I thought about laxatives, but someone said that it was not safe. Well by the time the end of the week rolled around I stopped at McDonalds. So, I felt terrible and the downward spiral continued. - The lbs. started to pile back on immediately.

I had no support & didn’t know where to turn - so I went back on the Christy program. I only lasted two weeks on the program though. I am back on Atkins. Even though I had stopped doing Atkins I still watched my sugar...when I am on this other diet my sugar cravings increased 100%.

I started back on Atkins on Tuesday 10/18/07 - I am feeling great again. And I also think I found a place where I can get support from other low-carbers like myself.

You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish if you just stick to it. Don't torture yourself by staying on induction so long, do the 2 weeks and move on to owl. OWL is the best thing to ever happen to me. Welcome home!

I am so glad I stumbled onto this site. You dont know how much I needed to find all of you guys. For some reason one person in my corner is not as good as a couple of hundred.

            Thanks Sally -

I have read your posts and you are doing great too. All of you have given me hope and that is awesome. Someone once said that she feels like there is a runner inside of her...I to have this feeling. I just need to unbury her from all of the fat to find her.

I stepped on the scale this morning and I am down five lbs.!!!!!!

Thanks again for the warm welcome. Keep up the good work on your end I will be watching for you.

Welcome Shaunawa! Do you have the book? I re-read mine all the time. It seems like no matter how many times I read it, I always find something I've overlooked or forgotten. Check the recipe threads too. Lots of people get bored and fall off the wagon. I've found so many family favourites here and at Linda's Lowcarb - no one even questions if it's lowcarb or not cuz they are just yummy. Anyway, I'm sure you'll do great this time. We look forward to hearing about your journey.

                  Re: Starting Over

Lady In Red... that is one of my favorite songs. Must be a sign of a good women.

I have been reading all sorts of receipes - I have a tendancy to wear a food out and then move onto another flavor. But I do love to cook so on the weekend when I have a little more time I like to mess around in the kitchen.

Some of the reciepes scare me though because I am doing the induction protion right now. So when I see something that says it has 6 carbs in it, I run the other direction. I just figured I would try them when I am done with it.

Do you use any sugar substitute? Can I? Or should I not until I am done with the induction stages?

                    Re: Starting Over

Well, you have 20 carbs to play with. As long as they are acceptable and you have room for them, then you shouldn't worry about trying new things.

I sometimes use Splenda, but sometimes it gives me a headache. Some people find sweeteners stall them. Dr. A recommends Splenda and says to avoid aspartame because it can stall. A lot of people also find that it's better to get the "sweet" out of their diet altogether as even the fake stuff can trigger the sweet tooth. So try it out if you'd like and see how it goes. You might want to wait till induction is over and you feel more in control. Also, after 2 weeks on induction you may no longer be interested in sweet stuff.

                      Going over board

My husband told me that I am going a little overboard with this diet thing. Last night I got worried about sugar alcohol and he thought I was off my rocker.

I just dont want anything to mess me up this time around. I want to be as saintly as possible on induction.

I understand what you mean. I'm the same way when it comes to sauces, and what is actually in dressings I'm eating. We have to be this way, when it comes to hidden sugars. Great concept . Best wishes to you this go round !

I guess I was just so shocked to find out who much sugar is really in stuff we eat. It is in everything! Wonder why americans are so huge.

In the past I lived on ketchup. Now to find out that it is just loaded with sugar. I am feeding this stuff to my kids all of the time.

When I get my diet and life under control, I would like to try and help my kids too. I cant believe getting all of this sugar is good for them.

And I am glad to hear that I am not the only one...freaking out a bit on induction.
