    I just wanted to re-introduce myself, I have been a member for some time now, just not a ACTIVE member. But now my hopeful new-found friends, I am in a position in my life at this time that I want to make a change. I am a 36 year old , Black Man, and I stand 6'1", and weight a whopping 307 lbs !!

    I want so bad to get down to like 185 lbs !

    So with that can anyone really just give me the short concise version of how the Atkins Diet operates, and is it possible to get a "sample" daily food regiment that someone has used, and it has been effective in their losing weight procedure.

    Thanks in advance to all that answer this thread........I am ready to do whatever it takes to get down to 185 lbs....I just can't wait to obtain my goal !

    Welcome back enovativ! Glad you've reintroduced yourself. There's a lot of support and encouragement shared here in the ADBB. Make yourself at home, jump into the challenges, journals and forums and have fun making friends and getting comfortable with this way of life. Best wishes.

      Glad to see you decided to make your first post enovativ. Nice to meet you.
      There is so much information here at your fingertips.
      My advice is to read the book, you have to do this or you will never fully grasp the science behind the diet. Once you read the book, you will easily see which foods that you can eat and the ones that you can't. Be sure and drink your water and get some exercise in from time to time and the weight will melt away. GOOD LUCK

        Hi! My name is Brandy, everyone calls me Mothette. (My fiancee's stage name is Moth and since I'm his woman they call me Mothette... sort of like smurfette... yeah, it's stupid but what can I say, it's a nickname)

        I don't have too much advice for you seeings how I just started last month but I can say that I agree with the post above. You really should read the book. Someone explained it to me before I read it and I understood what to do but didn't understand why. Once I read it I was blown away by how it really works.

          Welcome aboard Enovativ! Glad you found us here. You'll find the ADBB is a source of inspiration, support and great tips.

          I'm with Brady: Reading the book is essential to success. Dr Atkins Diet Revolution (2002 edition) is the one you want. In the meantime, read the stickies in the forums of the various weight loss phases (induction, OWL, Pre-maintenance, Maintenance) and some of the FAQs. That should tide you over until you get the book
