  • Look at me..here I go again

    :wave
My name is Heather. This is my second time running. The first time I did this I lasted almost a year. I lost 25 pounds. For some reason I didn't lose as fast as some of you on here. I ended up getting frustrated and quit. BIG mistake. I realized that it was VERY easy to gain all that weight and then some right back. I also realized that I felt SO much better when I was eating the atkins way..so I decided to start it up again. So, here I am, in the whole lot of flesh and going to take this challenge. What do I have to lose, other than weight, and that isn't a bad thing at all. I lose so DARN slow tho.

Welcome back Heather! :wave I understand the frustration of being a slow loser, I'm one of the slowest! We just have to stick with it and be patient..like you said you feel better eating this way! I have made it a WOL and it has become second nature to me after 1 1/2 years, I would have to make a conscience effort if I wanted to go back to eating a bunch of carbs again (which I dont!)

Hello Heather. Welcome back! So many of us have been in your shoes. Don't focus on the fact that you regained some weight. Think of this as a new starting point and take it from here. It really shouldn't matter if you are a slow loser. We're all different, but you know that.

Try to think about the reasons you may have fallen of the wagon. I know, self analysis, yuck! I'm dealing with that right now and it can be painful. Losing weight and keeping it off will be some of the hardest things I will ever have to do in my life.

But just by being here, you have made a good start. Come back often. Everyone here is so willing to help, either by patting you on the back for your good work and successes or by giving you a swift kick to get you back on track.

            Hi, Heather :wave , welcome!

I am a slow loser, too. It definitely gets me down sometimes, but, it is encouraging how much better I FEEL eating this way both in mood and physically.

Exercise is also so key. I hate to exercise but since upping my time and intensity of daily exercise the weight loss seems to be working better.
Are you exercising regularly? There is an exercise challange going on now if you would like to join.

I look forward to reading your posts on your successes in 2005!

I am with you, I lost 60lbs then put 35lbs of it back on when I let my self go over the summer and into the holidays. One day I went to put my pants on and could not :yikes! I plan to do it right and keep it off. I want to feel and look better.

One thing to try and remember is to never compare your weight loss with anyone else's. SO many factors contribute -- your stress level, your genetics, your exercise level, your metabolism, your support system at home and at work... Every single one of us is different! So grab and re-read DANDR, do EXACTLY what you should be doing, and whatever weight loss you have as a result, is exactly what's right for you!

My weight loss has been consistent -- consistently WEIRD, that is! Once I finished two week Induction, I have gone 4 to 8 (and even 12!) weeks with NO weight loss at all and then BAM! 5 to 7 pounds will drop overnight. Then I'll lose 1-2 lbs for a few weeks, then go back to no weight loss for several weeks. It used to upset me that I wasn't losing every week like a lot of folks -- but I guess I'm losing the way my body wants to!

Just keep at it and make sure you're doing everything you can - water, exercise, counting carbs, no frankenfoods - and you'll do fine!
