  • Hello from Oregon Duck Town!

    Hi!
I'm so overwhelmed with the board! Its been nothing but inspiring. I'm looking for the same successes as all of you have had. I've done Atkins before, been successful, tasted sugar and failed big time. I am a sugar addict! I dont miss bread or pasta, I miss baked goods, cookies, cake, even candy bars...I "used to" eat hot tamales ALL DAY. BAD!! I'm seeking freedom from this addiction. I went 22 days last time, had lost 11 pounds, I was full of energy, the fog had lifted, it was wonderful.
I will be celebrating small victories this time..pound by pound! I'm hoping I have not messed up my metabolism so much that its harder to loose this time. I hope to be down 15-20 by the end of the year...is that do-alble? ( I have a tad over 30lbs to loose)
By the way I'm a 41 year old Mom to a 4 1/2 year old, wife to a wonderfully supportive husband. I'm active but need more daily activity. My 30lbs sits squarely on my belly mainlly, and I realize thats not a great place for the fat to be (heart disease, diabetes) I dont want to be a statistic!
Thanks for all your awesome success stories...its to motivating, I will be on these boards each day looking for inspiration from you all!!

It's so nice to have you here Reese, from one Oregonian to another. Yes, it is doable for you to get that much weight off by the end of the year. Stick with it, and reep in the rewards. Jiimmie has a book challenge coming up. We'll be reading DANDR and be doing homework. It's a great way to learn, have fun and do Atkins the right way. Hope you join. It'll be a good way to meet people too. You're in a good place coming here. Remember it's not a race, it's a lifestyle. Welcome!

yes, 15 to 20 lbs is doable by the end of the year.
just drink your water and get in some exercise when you can and the weight will go away.
btw, I watched your Ducks Saturday, they may be national champs after NEW YEARS. ttyl, brady

            Welcome aboard Reese!

Why not join an exercise challenge, if exercise is not your "forte". You'll find them fun and amazingly motivating.
There's also the latest "Read the book" challenge coming up, which is another good one.

I'm willing to bet that if you follow the plan to a T your sugar cravings will disappear like magic and you'll lose all those lbs again.
