  • Hi! I'm back and BIGGER and BETTER!

    Hi,
    My name is Mary, and I am very happy about being back on low carb. I started on Thursday, and haven't weighed myself yet. I will be weighing in the morning... to be honest - I'm scared.
    How did I get in this jam? Well it's been a rough couple of years, I've lost some people I love, and I've drank a lot of wine and ate a lot of good food. The endorphin rush from the chocolate and sweets has in truth helped.. and I'm not going to apologize or beat myself up for gaining a few (if we can call 40 a few) pounds when I've been dealing with some very real and difficult times. HOWEVER - I am much stronger and BETTER now and ready to get smaller again.
    I had my photo taken with BIG Elvis in Vegas this summer, and I nearly cried when I saw that we looked like twins! For those of you who do not know or have not seen BIG Elvis, he's lost 400 pounds, without any surgery! He still has a long way to go (I think about 250 or 300) but the guy is an inspiration...
    I just could not believe how fat I looked in the photo! If this guy can loose 400 pounds by dieting surely I can loose 40.
    I let you know now I will not be posting a lot - I'm pretty busy with work and family, but I will be reading regularily and I appreciate all the tips, success stories and words of encouragement.

        Hello there Mary. Welcome to the . Glad to have you join us here.

        Sure you can lose 40 lbs... you've already started. Just follow the programme to a "T" and you'll be fine. Isn't it great that you've reversed your weight direction?

        Take a roam around and join in any activities you fancy: challenges, journals, recipes... lots of fun and motivating stuff here, as well as lots of good advice.

        Keep us in the know as to your progress. We're behind you!

              Hi, Mary, and welcome to ADBB! As everyone has said, this is a great place for inspiration, support, and information. There is such a sense of accomplishment in taking consistent steps each day to improve our health and lifesyle choices.

              As Sally said, read the book, follow the plan to a "T", and come here and post often. We are all here for you and know you can do it!

                  Thanks for the welcome and words of advice and encouragement. I did weigh in this morning - 172.2 and I was very happy to be under 176, that was the number I saw the last time I weighed myself, and I jumped off in shock . It was an all time high for me ( a former weight loss coach at a diet center).
                  I'm going to check out some of the challenges, after I eat my omlette.

                    Welcome to the group, sounds like you are arleady on your way.
                    40 year old male 6' 3"

                    What I know:
                    1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
                    2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
                    3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
                    4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.
