  • Newbie In Washington Dc....

Hello all I am new to the site and Atkins... I've tried almost every diet and I just haven't seen any results and honestly it's getting really depressing since I am aspiring to be a police officer but i'm not in the proper shape. I heard very bad things about atkins so I decided not to try it but one of my co-workers lost over 100lbs on the atkins and I was inspired.. SO HERE I AM PLANNING TO START MONDAY NOV 12TH ... I AM OPEN TO ANY HELP NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL ... a new beginning for a new me

Hi Mystical being Ignore the bad press Atkins gets. Most of it is downright BS and the rest is bad science. You'll love this place. So much inspiration!

    WELCOME!!

Welcome Mystical! Good to have you with us.

I'm with Chicklady... don't listen to the Atkins naysayers. Most of them think that Atkins is only egg and bacon and can't see beyond the two week induction phase.
Atkins done correctly is really ultra healthy. At the end of the day (by the time you reach pre-maintenance/maintenance) all you've really taken out is refined white flour, sugar and highly processed foods; and you'll have added in tons of veggies.
Nothing very unhealthy about that! Also, your numbers (B/P, blood sugar, cholesterol levels) will no doubt confirm this.

        Happy Atkineering!

Welcome to the board. Congratulations on your decision, you will find ADBB is a great place for support, information, recipes, you name it. Have to agree with everyone, you will find Atkins to be a safe and healthy diet. Good Luck!!

          What I know:
          1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.

Welcome! If Atkins was unhealthy, I'd have been a gonner a long time ago. Not only have I lost 120 pounds, I have put my life-long asthma in remission and have improved many other health problems. After many years, I found that wheat was the cause of my asthma and many digestive problems. I feel better than I have in years.

I do have one comment: At 5'2" tall, I'd want to weigh 300 pounds (and carry a BIG gun ) to be a police officer in D.C.!!!! You must be one brave girl! Or you own an AK47 and a pit bull.

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
