  • I'll probably need some support...

... or at least someone to celebrate with when i'm doing well.

I guess I can tell a little of my story here, why not... I'm a firefighter and an EMT. I really love what I do. I love helping people, and anyone who knows me knows they can call anytime. I like people, and I like taking care of them. I'm also a full time college student. I work 12 hour night shifts and goto school in the day. I also edit/design various local websites. I'm an outside salesperson for a wireless carrier. I give alot, and tend to neglect me. My girlfriend of two years recently left me for to become an alcoholic and partier. I'm not much into either of those things... and she was/is. Not that you wanted this whole story...

I recently went to six flags. I didn't fit in batman. Batman is my favorite ride at six flags. It like ripped my insides in half to be the fat guy who couldn't ride. I'm also single now, and I remember when I worked out regularly and was more attractive. I want to be able to go to the lake without a shirt next summer. I don't want to worry about how I look. I want to feel good every day. I'm tired of feeling like crap. I'm tired of being a carb addict. I'm tired of looking like this.

I ussually just eat out for every meal. Atkins will be cheaper, but I'm going to have to learn to cook, and prepare food/plan in advance. I don't know much about this at all. If you've got any tips, I'd be glad to hear them.

I'm going to do atkins right, I've done it before (for a short period) and it worked great. I won't allow any excuses (and I hope you guys won't either). This is what I want.

I'm going to workout regularly. I'm going to lift. I'm going to do the Couch to 5k running plan, and beyond...

I'm going to feel great. I'm going to meet a great woman who will blow the one who left out of the water. I'm going to look good. I want to, and I will.

I hope you guys will be here when I don't feel like doing these things. I hope to make some good friends from this forum. I'm probably gonna need some support.

I'm tired of living like this. Really tired of it. No More. No More Excuses, Just Results.

    What I know:
    1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.

You sound like you will do great! Good luck.

My best advice is to look through the amazing recipes online. They somehow find a way to make almost every kind of food you can imagine low carb. My personal favorite at the moment is buffalo chicken strips! Some of the recipes are difficult, but plenty are simple and taste delicious.

When you do find something you like, make tons of it so that you can just reheat for like a week. With your busy schedule, you won't be able to stick to it out unless you do some planning and preparation. If all else fails and you are out of the house with nothing to eat, go to your favorite fast food and order a burger or grilled chicken sandwich with no bun (or five

Hi Frank! Welcome to the board. I thought all firefighters were fabulous cooks! Really, I did! Learning to cook is good for you, and you're right planning your food is important. I would suggest having tons of grab and go legal foods to eat on the fly; cheeses, meats leftovers etc. You can do this, there's tons of people who will support you as you lose.

Re: I'll probably need some support...

Hi, Frank -- I liked your frank post. (Ha... pun not intended.) You don't have to learn to be a gormet cook. Here is a great site -- most recipes are pretty straight-forward and easy to follow: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/recipes.html. If you can set aside a day or two a week to do some cooking, casseroles are great and can last you for several days. Raw veggies are easy and require no prep. If you prefer cooked veggie, you can buy frozen or the fresh ones in the bag, and just pop them in microwave, add butter, salt and pepper, and there ya go!

Take care, and good luck to you!

Welcom to the board.....the people on here are amazing!! Anytime I want to cheat, I get on here and get inspired all over again. My favorite quote on here is "A year from now you'll wish you started today!" You can do this!! In my opinion, a Foreman grill is one of the best things you can own on this WOL. You can cook so many things on that thing. Cook several chicken breasts and keep them for the week. It's always nice to open the fridge and find something quick. Boiled eggs and string cheese is nice too. Hope this helps some! Good luck!
