Hello Everyone!
Years ago in college, I used Atkins to stay slim because I was on my college's dance team and was constantly being scrutinized and weighed and pinched in front of every girl on the team. Because of this, I grew to resent the low carb lifestyle so when i graduated I introduced myself to massive amounts of carbs and didn't meet a bowl of pasta that wasn't my new best friend. Over the past few years I put on 40 pounds, and even though I love my curves, I realize that I am overweight and it isn't healthy to keep eating the way I have been. I have tried several diets over the past year or so limiting calories and using points and whatnot, but those haven't and won't work for me because I'm totally addicted to carbs once I start eating them.
So, I'm finally going back to Atkins where eating isn't such a battle everyday. I was afraid that starting up again would bring back some really bad memories from practically starving on the dance team, but I'm already almost through with induction and I feel great! I'm lucky because I already have a positive body image (which took years to get back), so I am truly looking to live a healthier life and get to a healthy weight. I have also been a vegetarian for the last three years, so things will be a little trickier but so far so good. I am thankful for this forum existing so that I have a positive and supportive outlet on my weightloss journey.
