  • Newbie here need support...

Hey wel im Kel, Im 25 and am sick of being so overweight, morbidly obese as the docs call it, my details are

    Starting: 319 lbs
    Current: 312 lbs
    1st Goal: 280 lbs
    2nd Goal: 252 lbs
    3rd Goal: 224 lbs
    4th Goal: 196 lbs
    5th Goal: 168 lbs
    Goal: 140 lbs

I half heartedly started Atkin's on Saturday without thinking it through and making sure I had the right foods in the house, hence I have now run out of "Atkin's friendly" foods. I have lost 7lbs though so that's positive although I am going to start properly once food shopping is bought next week!!

I have tried all diets you can think of, Slimming World, cabbage soup, Starvation, Purging, Healthy eating, Slimfast etc and I don't get very far as I'm either starving or craving something really badly.

I am 21 weeks pregnant at the moment although being the weight I am, doctor's have said that it is safe for me to diet as losing some weight would benefit myself and the baby.

I have numerous problems like bad hips and also extreme tiredness which I'm putting down to excess weight.

Any support offered would be greatly appreciated.

Also I haven't got a clue how to do my signature on this and for some reason cannot get qa profile picture up loaded so any help would be great.

Welcome Kel, I think you will find this board informational and supportive. I would suggest reading or re-reading the book (if you haven't) especially early on, it makes things so much easier. Good luck with this WOE and your pregnancy, you have come to the right place.

    What I know:
    1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.

Welcome to the greatest WOL, Kel. I am sooooo excited that you have come to play with us. This board has the most AWESOME people you would ever want to know. If you have any questions, all you have to do is say Someone knows your answer. Don't be shy to look around the board. And don't forget to tell us you have been there. The first time I did this, I "learked" around but didn't say much. I fell off. This time, having the support of my new friends has kept me on track even why I didn't want to be.

Check out the Picture forums... You will NOT believe it possible. These people are incredible with their weigh loss stories. Super Modivation !!!

      See ya around the board.

        Re: Newbie here need support...

I've been trying to work my around this site all day and can't figure it out (new to forum's). I've managed to get my pic on signature but can't figure out how to get my TICKER on there any help would be great.

Between now and next week, official start of WOE I am reading up on as much to do with Atkin's as I possibly can, and thanks to Ebay I have bought some books as I haven't managed to read those yet, just waiting on receiving them!!

So I'm hoping with the right attitude and Information behind me I shouldn't do too bad *finger's crossed* plus I am joined with Fitday.com so I can count carbs etc that way and once I learn how to link my blog from there onto here I will do so that you all can see.

Any online buddy offers would help too!!

        Thankies xx

You are so lucky to have found atkins while you are pregnant. I just had a baby a month ago. and while pregnant I pigged out. Now i have more weight to lose than I started with. You are starting real smart!!!!!!! and it will make your baby healthy all those veggies, iron, and vitamins!!!!

I know that you are supposed to only do phase 4 of the diet while pregnant though. and don't worry there are even boards on this sight just for expecting and nursing mommies.

I'll be your buddy on here. i just started Nov. 1st and don't know too many people!!! Good luck.

to get the ticker just click on someone elses and it should take you to the sight. You then copy the code you get onto your signature like you did your picture!!! I still can't get my picture resized to fit on there...go figure.

I'm 23 years old and have a 16mo old and a 4 week old. Talk to you soon!!!

Hiya Kel and welcome aboard! Nice to have you with us.

Congratulations on your pregnancy... a very exciting time for you! As Jessica said, when pregnant (or nursing), you should follow the Maintenance phase of Atkins. That way you and your baby will be ultra healthy.

Have you read the book? It's a must if you want to be successful. Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution - 2002 edition is the one you want. This was the last book written entirely by Dr A before his death, so hasn't had others messing around with his regimen.

            Happy Atkineering!

Start 10 Jan 2005. Maintenance since Aug. 2005.

                  Re: Newbie here need support...

Hi Kel, Welcome to ADBB! I'm from the Uk too, in Manchester, its always good to have some brits around here!

First off you need to go check out 1 - the pregnancy forum and 2 - the Maintenance forum...

It's not necessarily not safe to do induction, but its not recommended, you dont really want to be limiting veggies for a start so its maintenance for you!!!! you can do induction after you've given birth! you will still lose weight!!

In regards to the Ticker, if you go to www.tickerfactory.com input all your details and when the codes are up you select the code that starts [IMG] and paste that into your signature

Congrats on your pregnancy, i wish you a safe and healthy one! if you need anything just shout!

Welcome to the Board and congrats on your pregnancy! As you start Atkins make sure you have lots and lots of legal food avavilable. Everytime I have failed it is because I didn't have enough food available to eat...which would then lead to me getting super hungry...which would lead to me eating lots of carbs. Now I make sure I cook on the weekends so I have things available and it has made a huge difference! Good luck!

Welcome to the board Kel.. Don't you hate reading when your Doctor writes Morbidly Obese.. The first time I saw that I wanted to bust out and Cry...

Congratulations on your pregnancy... I for one wouldn't think of this as a diet..but a new way of eating.. You will be putting fresh and not processed stuff into your body. You will start to feel better too getting rid of all the junk out of your body..
