  • Newbie from Canada

    Hi,
I am new and just started the diet. Love this forum and all the tips and stories. Will be reading lots.

I have gained weight steadily the last 10 years and finally decided that I would like to get by with less body mass. It is just too much to carry around. I am a big nibbler and was eating more and less constantly. Lot of it junk. I love chocolate. I decided to try Atkins as it is nice and rigid on making you cut some of the items that really had become a big issue for me. I have only been at it for a week but I am almost chocked that I could stop eating chocolate and not miss it more than I do. It is a relief too.

I did not own a scale when I started the diet but bought one two days in. Wanted to make sure I did not gain weight during the diet. (don't laugh I remember trying to diet years ago (calori reduction) when that happened).
Any ways I weighed 75 kilos (165 pounds) 130 pounds is my goal.

Liked the FitDay tips. It is really helping me to stay on the straight and narrow. My immediate goal is to make sure I get some daily exercise. It has been the only part I have "cheated" on so far.

Look forward to reading more and learnign more.

Hi Liv - Welcome to the board. It sounds like you're on the right track now. Fitday is a great tool, glad you like it so far. If you haven't read the book in years, I would encourage you to do so. That too is an invaluable tool.

I've just mentioned this to another newbie, we have a pedometer challenge:
                        http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=50211

It's about steps each day. You can pledge whatever you think you can do in a day, start slowly. You would be amazed at how quickly the steps add up. So, on your next shopping trip, add pedometer and DANDR to you list!

Could some of you Canadians be a little more specific about location?? It's a big place! I have friends and family in:

Vancouver Island (Victoria, Comox Valley, Naniamo)
Vancouver and many of the 'burbs
                            Guelph, Ont.
                            Sauble Beach, Ont.
                            Toronto

I have been to almost all Provinces at sometime in my life. Although I was born in the USA, I've been a Canadian at heart since a small child.
