  • Newbie to ADBB

    Hello everyone,

I started phase one on November 26th. I have read a lot of good information about the diet or WOE and I really hope this will help me lose the weight. I currently weigh 178lbs and I would like to lose about 60 or so pounds. So far on the diet I feel okay. I have noticed a little fatigue and somewhat of a headache - probably from no caffeine since I have given up pop and tea. My starting weigh was 215 lbs and now I am at 178 lbs but have not been able to move away from that number for a while. I try to exercise at least 3-4 times a week by walking or something else that sounds like fun. It has to be fun or I will hate every minute of it!! If any of you have any suggestions that will help me stick with this diet it would be great. So far I have been eating lots of red meat, chicken, tuna, salad and hard boiled eggs. My BMR is approx. 1500 cals.

    Thanks for all you help!!

      1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works

3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.

Hiya and a warm welcome to you!

Your headache is probably what we call induction flu. It's when your body weans itself off the far bigger amount of carbs we used to eat. Don't worry... induction flu only lasts a few days, usually, and then you'll begin to feel wonderfully energised and much better.

My tip for you would be that while doing induction, you also have one cup of veggies from the legal induction list, other than just salad veggies. Variety is good and if salad is heavy on lettuce, it is really little more than chewy water nutritionwise. You are allowed two cups of salad veggies, and one cup "other" veggies... or three cups of salad veggies (but if you go with this option, try to eat the nutrient dense varieties like fennel, celery etc).

Sounds like you are already on the right track, so happy losing!

            Re: Newbie to ADBB

Thanks for all the support and information. I might try the two cups of salad and then one cup of legal veggie. I have noticed an increase in the amount of energy that I have and my headaches have basically disappeared. This morning I had tuna with mayo - running late for work. For lunch I will probably have 4oz of chicken with one cup of salad or maybe one cup of veggies. Not sure what I will have for dinner though. I would really like to have a recipe for Flaxseed muffins so if anyone has one please let me know about it.

I look at all of the before and after pictures and I am just amazed at how great everybody looks. I was worried about trying this diet because I have heard all the bad stuff about the diet but then I read the book and this website and have found out that this diet makes perfect sense. People shouldn't snub this diet until they have all the facts!!

Hope everyone has a great day and keep the wieght loss going!!
