  • New to ADBB with a question?

I started the Induction Phase on Nov 26th. It has only been a week and I can already see a difference in the way that my clothes are fitting me. I am very excited about this, but I have one problem that I was hoping you, Atkins experts, would be able to help me with. I really don’t like to eat red meat, but I love chicken and fish and they don't have a lot of fat in them. (I will eat red meat though.) Can anyone out there give me some good ideas to boost up the fat content in chicken and fish?
    Thanks for all your help,
    Carolyn

You don't have to eat red meat if you don't like it. I don't eat a lot of red meat either, maybe once or twice a week. Just add fat in your cooking. A tablespoon of olive oil or butter or some mayonaise is often enough to make a meal high fat.

Glaze your veg with butter or oil, fry your chicken or fish. Dress your salads. Add a little cream to a sauce or soup.

It probably won't take as much fat as you imagine to get your proportions right - there is a great thread about fat here that will make it much clearer.

        Welcome aboard Carolyn!
Kate is spot on... you don't have to eat red meat if you don't like it... plenty of other good protein choices. Her suggestions of upping the fat in your meals are also very good. It isn't hard to raise the fat. Just a small amount of oil/mayo/butter/cream will do the trick.

        Happy losing!

Welcome to the board! How wonderful that you already see a difference in your clothes. That's the true measure as to how you're doing!

You do not have to eat red meat. However, do eat the skin of the chicken and cook your fish in olive oil or butter. It truly is the fat that's going to help you lose weight and stay satisfied.

Congratulations on your one-week results. The others are right - use the butter, olive oil and mayo for your fat intake. I'm not a big red-meat fan...but love my tuna and chicken and fish.
