  • HI everyone I'm a newbie

    Hi everyone, im new to this site and first day on atkins induction, been okay so far, but i still dont have the book, and just following the induciton menu on the website, i cant get hold of a lot of the foods listed there, or receipes and i guess we measure things differently in England.

    OK I had an atkins chocolate today i guess its a no no on induction? i have so many questions and dont know where to ask...so i would be grateful for all of you who know more about Atkins could share stuff with me and your experiences.

    Yep got tons to lose, i hope this works, coz im kinda discouraged at the moment, and eating all this fatty foods, it dont seem like adiet, but i know the theory behind atkins,

    also as i know no carbs are allowed, please could someone tell me if these tablets are okay to take on atkins, accordng to the ingrediants, please take a look at the website

    Welcome! You really need to get and read the book. The Atkins Website, unfortunately, is into selling products and not the diet. The menus are full of stuff NOT allowed on Induction. The stickies on this site has the real info to get you through until you get your book. You should have every food you need right there in England--lots of fresh meats, poultry, fish, eggs, cheese, and lots of fresh veggies! You do eat carbs--veggies have very nutrient-dense GOOD carbs. We don't eat sugar, white flour, corn starch and junk food. Those are not healthy anyway.

    As to those pills--I don't see anything that you can't have except the white beans, but I don't see anything special that would make you lose weight--except for in your wallet. Atkins itself will cause your appetite to diminish all on it's own. You don't need pills. Buy some good vitamins and fresh foods with your money.

      Welcome! I am just over a week into induction and trust me, you'll be feeling awesome in no time. I had the same thoughts, how can eating fatty foods be making me smaller in the beginning, but as you start to the weight melt off it just becomes incredable. You really gotta get the book, i started the first little bit with just trying to do what the online site said and what people told me (not always the best source there let me tell you) but i was mostly feeling confused as to what to eat. The book makes it beyond crystal clear. And it makes it really easy to follow. This way of eating leaves me feeling satisfied and full instead of hungry and miserable! Good luck and return to the boards for support often!

        Welcome to the board! I encourage you to buy the book. It's an invaluable tool for doing this properly.

        In addition - the chocolate bars and shakes are definitely a no no in induction. In fact, they should only be eatin in dire emergency. Although they may say a "net carb" total, in reality you are eating the full amount of carbs listed on the packages due to sugar alcohols, which act just like sugar in your body, although they are "allowed". it's much better to begin eating this way with only whole, fresh foods.

                You are well on your way, and the induction is great I have lost 25lbs before with the wonderful help of this site and the Atkins, but I let it all pile back on, so this time around I am stickin to it! Make sure though when and if you decide to get vitamins do not have IRON in them!! Good Luck and you can succeed
