  • New!

Hi. I'm new. I started on the 30th Nov (Friday) and I'm going strong.
It's not as hard as I thought It'd be. I have the book, read it a while back but do need to go back and reread...but so far, I lost 5 lbs (!!!) Prob, a lot of water weight and all but my fingers even feel slimmer Haha I want to lose 25-30lbs by end of Feb which is my 38th birthday so I think I'll stay on induction as long as I can and then gradually introduce good carbs. I'm exercising almost every day. I do have 1 question. I have a special day this coming Sat (which would be my 8th day into the induction period. I really want to not get off the track but I really want to enjoy the time at tea (with my 5 year old daughter :C Do you think it'll be ok to have tea (w/ finger sandwiches, and sweets) for that one meal if I promise to get right back on track??? My sis thinks I'll fall off the track once I do that. I'm going with other Moms and their daughters and I don't want to reveal that I'm dieting, plus it's such a special time w/ my daughter...
Anyways, thanks for reading! Wish me strength to reach my goal!

Hiya purplepuppy and welcome to ADBB!

Don't worry about the duplicate thread. I deleted the other one.
Kudos to you for reading the book and for exercising. Two essentials for success.

Re your possible planned step off the plan... my advice would be to avoid this kind of thing, particularlly in induction. You want to do as clean an induction as you can, as you'll be able to guage your CCLL (critical carb level for losing) from the amount you lose the first 14 days. Also, a clean induction will help kill the carb cravings.

Do ask any questions you might have. We're here for you!

          Re: New!

Welcome aboard, sounds like you are doing great. I have to agree totally with sallyseachange on the possible going off. It is so easy to start going down a slippery slope and doing a clean induction will really help you in the long run. If you don't want to tell the other Moms you are dieting, you can certainly tell them you have an upset stomach. Wether you eat or not with your daughter, you should still be able to have a special time with her. Good luck with whatever you decide, remember we are all here for each other.

          What I know:
          1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.

            Re: New!

Welcome Purplepuppy. Glad to have you join us. Congrats on your -5 pound loss and for committing to getting healthy and fit with us. I also advise you to not plan any types of cheats...instead put some thought into foods that are acceptable that you can eat if/when you go out. Making a list of ways to avoid temptations will make the program much easier to follow. If you let yourself feel deprived then it will be harder for you to make this a life-style change. Finding substitution meals and ways to conquer your cravings will soon become a habit and when you see the inches and pounds dropping...you won't even think about going off plan. Best wishes. We're all here for you!

              Hey All,

Thanks for all your words of encouragment. You guys are super duper!
OK. I will take you all's advice and stay on the plan. You are right. I can have a special time w/ out the sweets (or the bread). It's been amazing how easy it's been so far. I missed working out today but will do extra tommorrow. I'm soo psyched!!! I'll probably stop losing so much but I've not had any cravings and I am not weak or jittery. Thanks again for all your wise words!
branwyn, thanks for the greeting! Be strong! We can do it!!

                      Re: New!

welcome and I for one and a weak person and one sandwich for me would lead to another, instead why not pack yourself a meal, or to make it not seem that you are on a diet, make everyone lettuce rolls, like with turkey or ham and on the side you can take ranch or cream cheese or melt some cheese. If you go to a health store I no it can run some money but buy some chicken or turkey hot dogs that do not have nitrates in them, and they taste so much better. For the tea bring your own and use SPLENDA!!! You are gona love this SPLENDA it just makes me smile thinking of how wonderful it taste, or take a small package of crystal light tea!! Hope this helps for future tea parties, I notice I am posting this kinda late!! Hope to see u around!!
