    Greetings ~

Newbie here. Started induction yesterday, 12/6 and already having second thoughts (okay it's the carb withdrawls talking)... I started Atkins not to just lose weight, but because I'm a die-hard CARBOHYDRATE ADDICT that I need to overcome, (okay mix it in with emotional eating habits)... there should be laws against CARBS. So now I'm here and I'd like to say I've been reading for a few weeks and decided I'd register once I started induction. I'm also swearing off caffeine as well (had 1/2 cup of coffee every morning so that part shouldn't be too bad)..

This is day two and today has been far worse than yesterday... I've had a killer headache, I feel like I'm in a 'fog' and I'm incredibly tired! I hope every day is not like this. Did I forget to mention... I'm having carb withdrawls something fierce. I want ice cream, tons of it. And a cinammon roll.

Anyway, I look forward to conversing with all of you on this site. I've found tons of informative info from you already and I am absolutely inspired!

    Have a great weekend,
    Eselte

    Re: Greetings

Welcome! At least you already know that those cravings are the Carb Monsters wanting their fix! Ignore them, and they'll die off in a couple of days. Being a carb addict is as bad as being a drug addict. You will get a big burst of energy soon, the headache will be gone and you'll soon forget to eat. You just need time to burn off all the glucose stores and switch from carb burning to fat burning for energy. Right now, your body has a lot of enzymes for digesting carbs, but it will take a couple of days to produce the enzymes needed to digest protein and fat. After 3 to 5 days, you'll be over the induction flu and will feel great.

A good thing to remember is that after you have switched your body to fat burning mode, if you cheat, all these same feelings will come back to make you sick all over again. It's not worth it!

    Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

      Welcome to the team.

SunnySmile501 did a great job of explaining what's going on. Just a couple of days until you are feeling great. It's a wonderful journey.

      1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.

Hi Eselte! Welcome. Sunny's right...your body is learning to burn the fat (Whoooppeee) instead of burning excess carbs for energy. Thats a good thing. It only lasts a few days and then you'll get that Atkins High energy boost. Don't forget to take your measurements and come here often for support and motivation. We're here for you, keep us posted on your progress.

Welcome aboard Eselte! Sounds like you know that what you're going through is what we call "Induction Flu". Never fear; like the others said, soon you'll be feeling much better and ultra energised.

If you find you're craving fiercely, try having a high fat snack (from the legal foods lists, of course). It really helps.

Stay strong... it's so worth it, and so are you!

                Re: Greetings

Welcome to the board.. I promise you..as you get to day 4 it will start to get easier.. Make sure you eat high fat stuff right now.. Like Yummy Steak...eat the fat... That will help oh so much.. Don't waste your time eating chicken..that will come when your major cravings are gone.. And if you really feel like you are going to cave.. Take 1oz of Cream cheese and melt in the microwave..like 10-20 seconds...and stir in a packet of splenda and that will help the desire for something sinful...but yet legal..

                  Re: Greetings

A motivation for me was weighing myself and seeing that I had lost weight and then I didn't want to eat sweets or whatever. I know its not a good thing to step on the scale everyday but it is nice to see the results. My boyfriend feels the same way and he gets cravings more than I do and hasn't given in either.
