  • Atkins Bulleting Board Newbie

I'm new to the Atkins Diet Bulletin Board. I really want to commit to losing weight this year and start off 2008 weighing less. I've lost 30 lbs before and I know I can lose it again and this time lose more. I love all the inspiring stories I've read. They give me so much hope and inspiration! Thanks to all for sharing your success stories and inspiring others!

Welcome Texas Paralegal... how great that you want to start out 2008 weighing less, rather than waiting for 2008 to start!

I recommend you get a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition) if you haven't already, familiarize yourself with this board -- there's lots of great stuff and great people -- and pick your exercise of choice. Exercise is "non-negotiable" on this plan, according to Dr A, and it sure makes a WORLD of difference! Even a few minutes a day a few times a week is a good start...

I know first-hand that when you have 100+ pounds to lose, it's hard to get and stay motivated. But take it from me... time passes quickly, and if you stick with it, before you know it you'll be seeing big changes!

Best of luck to you, and look forward to reading about your successes around the board.

        Hey Texas,

Welcome to the ADBB! Good for you for getting on board now and not waiting for the new year. I hope to see you around here alot. It's a great place to come for advice, support and encouragment along the way. You should definitely check out the Century Club forum. It's for those of us with 100 or more pounds to lose. We have a roll call every morning to check in with each other throughout the day. Happy losing!

          Hey there texasparalegal!!

Great to see another fellow Texan on the board. You have come to a wonderful place for support, encouragement and information. I have only been here a few weeks and I am continually amazed at the wonderful people here.

What helped me most getting started was buying the book (I got mine on eBay for 84 cents --always the bargain hunter) and lurking on here reading the various sections. It gave me great motivation to just GO FOR IT!!

Just take it one day at a time, you already know that this WOE works for you!!

          Best of luck!!
