  • Hi everyone! Just starting induction!

I am excited and yet scared to start the Atkins Induction (not used to eating so much fat and red meat yet).

I've read the DANDR book and I've collected a list of carb counts for the food I eat. I've thrown out the junk from my home and replaced it with lowcarb foods and Induction friendly vegetables.

I hope to make this a WOE forever as I know I can't go back to the carby life I used to live, that kept me fat and unhappy. I've got 25 pounds to get off my body to fit normally in my old clothes and I'm ready to do what it takes with the Atkins Induction.

Hallie... warm welcome to Atkins and to the board. Really happy you've joined us here at ADBB.

Sounds like you have a good starting plan... and beyond too, as you say you want to make this way of eating a lifestyle. That's the best possible way to ensure permanent success. Kudos to you! Kudos also for reading the book before you start.

Post often and keep us up to date. Maybe join an exercise challenge or two (they're fun and very motivating and exercise is very much a part of the Atkins programme).

    Happy losing!

      Welcome aboard Hallie!

You're already getting well into the swing of things by the sound of it, in no time it will be second nature to eat this way - though I know what you mean about the fat seeming scary at first, but believe me, it works!!

The very best of luck on your journey.

Re: Hi everyone! Just starting induction!

Thanks for the welcome guys! Quick question: I just went over reading the Induction food rules again (trying to memorize them) and I noticed that Mayonnaise is not on the list. I don't know where I got the idea (maybe from reading some posts) that it's okay for Induction. Am I right or wrong?

Welcome Hallie!! Sounds like you are off to a good start. If you have questions or just want to vent this is the place to post everything. You might want to start a journal to hold yourself accountable for the things you eat and to maintain how much exercise you are doing. Good luck on your journey!

Re: Hi everyone! Just starting induction!

Welcome, Hallie. If you print and keep this handy list with you, you don't have to memorize it all , though I admire your enthusiam: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...6&page=1&pp=10.

It sounds like you've really set yourself up for success. Kudos on reading the book first -- that's so important for getting started on the right foot. I agree with Sally -- I hope you'll consider an exercise challenge. Or at least, pick SOMETHING to get yourself moving at least a few days a week. Even just a walk around the block.

If you feel tempted, come here. Someone will talk you out of whatever you're considering. And while you're waiting (hopefully not long) for a response, read success stories, journals, etc. You'll talk yourself out of eating whatever evil thing it was in no time.

Best of luck to you! What a great way to go into New Year's Eve. Good for you for not waiting for the clock to strike midnight to flip the switch!

Re: Hi everyone! Just starting induction!

Thank you for more welcomes! You guys are so nice! I'm at work and there is junk all around me so I'm trying to stay strong.

I have a treadmill which I've been using for 45 minutes a day, but have not seen the weight budge (I used to do a lowfat diet), so I'm hoping that lowcarb combined with exercise will get my fat off! As soon as my arm is better, I will get back into weightlifting too as the doctor told me not to hit the weights for six months (I'm healing from a tendon tear and it's taking forever!)!

Sallyseachange and Adena: I think that the exercise challanges sound like a good way for me to stay motivated. I will be looking into that!

Dyingtobethin: is there a place for people to journal their daily menus? I am using a calculator, but I'd like to have feedback too, in case I'm doing it wrong.

Hallie welcome! This place is so wonderful!! You will find that no matter if you fail, there is always someone there to help dust you off and push you in the right direction! You will find that this WOE is wonderful!! remember to drink water and exercise, I have started reinduction (holidays I feel apart) but I still try to do 30 minutes of exercise. I make up my own exercises, like I get on the tredmill for so many minutes then pick up dumbbells, then do crunches and pushups-or sometimes I just dance around like I am at the club!-my kids laugh when I do this! But just remember that you are in control of that fork and always think positive! You can and will succeed!

No time like the present to get rid of your 25 pounds too! Please let us know if you have any questions! Cruise around the board, familiarize yourself with our challenges and forums. There's lots to learn, and many friends to make!

Thank you everyone for all the welcomes! I wish I could be proud in saying I aced two days of Induction, but I screwed up bad. I posted this elsewhere on the Main board, but to make it short, I ate a non-induction friendly food (lowcarb peanutbutter fudge) and had more carbs yesterday and today than I wanted to.

I'm going to eat clean for the rest of the day and have already thrown out the rest of that fudge. I realize that anything sweet, even if I make it for someone else, is somehow going to end up in my mouth if it's in my home.

Time for me to go look at those exercise challenges.
