  • New To Board!

    Hello All,

I am starting Atkins today for the 2nd time. I did it years ago, lost alot of weight and then proceeded to gain it all back when I bought in to the hype that it is not a healthy way of eating. I have tried EVERY diet out there since, and am finally coming back to what has worked! A little about me, I am a 4th year medical student applying for residency in OB/GYN right now. I find out where I will be going to work for the next 4 years on March 20th (this is called Match Day). It's a complicated process, and i won't bore you with the details, but my first goal is to lose 20 by this date. Overall, i have 61 pounds to lose. I also have the cutest 19 month old boy in the world. I gained most of my weight back when i was pregnant with him. I decided to start today, because i didn't want it to be my New Years resolution, i think most people fail at these and didn't want to jinx it. So far so good today, I got up at 5:00 and ran for a half an hour, the only thing is I ate Eggs for breakfast and they always give me such a bad bellyache... any other suggestions for breakfast other than eggs??? Maybe i should cut out the yokes, since that is usually the culprit. I look forward to getting to know all of you! Happy New Year!

    Welcome to ADBB!

Think outside the box for breakfast, i eat dinner leftovers! I make a lunch to take to work of tuna on a bed of lettucee and tomatos with lots of mayo and sometimes i'll just have a bit of that as i'm making it, i'm not a huge breakfast person though, others will be able to help you im sure but the main thing is you think outside that box, breakfast dont hafta be a breakfast food!

Welcome Michele! Nice to have you join our Atkins adventures here at ADBB.

I agree with Emma... you don't have to "think traditional" for breakfast. Veggies, cold cuts, leftover meats, cheeses... they're all good on induction. Think avocados, smoked salmon, tuna with lemon, mozzarella.... You'll soon get the hang of it, and once you reach the OWL (ongoing weight loss) phase, there will be more choices.

      Happy losing with Atkins!

Welcome to the board Michele! I agree, don't be a slave to eggs for breakfast! Leftovers are great! Have you seen our recipe section? As you move up the food rungs, you will be able to add more varied foods making meals easier to come up with.

Also, here's a great low cab recipe site called Linda's:

Welcome to the board Michele! This will be a great place for you to hang out (when you can find the time with school and residency). Come in often when you feel the urge to turn to the wrong food, talking and chatting helps keep you on track. It will be great to add another doctor to the list who encourage the Atkins Way of Life.
