  • Returning to Atkins

Hey everyone. I started Atkins in 2003 at the request of my now ex-fiance. He asked that I diet to become more attractive.. so.. you can see why he's my EX. His critical eye however helped me to lose 50lbs, having once been 180lbs. I'm 5'1", so 180lbs is a big deal.

Anywho, I've been with my new boyfriend for 4 years now, and while he's wonderful and sweet, he's just TOO NICE and is a total food junkie. Even worse, he hates it when I diet because if we eat out I have to get something diet-y and most of the time, we can't visit certain restaurants because they don't have low carb food. So during these past 4 years, I've gained back around 10lbs.

I'm definately not happy with my weight, but I wasn't happy at 130lbs either. I'd like to make it to 120lbs someday. It's my goal weight and I think if I can make it there I will FINALLY be happy.

I got back on Atkins around the middle of last week. My regiment usually consists of lots of romaine lettuce, tuna, chicken, peppers, eggs.. things like that. Here's hoping I'll be able to lose these 20lbs.

Thank you! And yes, I've read the book. I know what to eat and how much, the problem is my environment. My boyfriend and roommates are carb fiends. We even have a rice cooker because none of them can eat a meal WITHOUT rice. It's terrible, so that will be my biggest challenge.. ignoring it all.

Ahhh... I know where you're coming from, living here in Italy where pasta and pizza reign supreme. My boys are addicts of both (though are at an age where it doesn't seem to stick!! Lol).
Sooner or later you'll find you no longer suffer to watch them eat all that stuff. You sort of close your mind to it. The Atkins appetite suppression really helps too. Believe me, it gets easier as you go along.

Be sure not to let yourself get too hungry. Keep a high fat snack handy at all times in case of emergencies. Grit your teeth and get through the two weeks of induction and you'll be well on your way.

Hey Duchess. Welcome to the board! The roomate thing is difficult, I cook for my family most every night. I've gotten very used to not eating what I serve them. Kinda makes me proud not to!

Don't worry about eating right while out, most places will accomodate you by preparing food as you want it. Or, you be the restaurant chooser, that way you can have more control over it!
