  • Why I decided to start....AGAIN!

    Hi Everyone!

My name is Miranda and I am 23 years old. I am a preschool teacher and I also have a 3 year old son. This is not my first time doing Atkins, but I really want it to be the first time I stick with it for more than 3 weeks.

I think that my total realization that I had seriously became a carb addict was about 4 days ago while I sat on my couch shoving as much food as I could into my mouth. Within 4 hours I had ate a WHOLE chocolate pie and a 2 liter of pepsi. All the while thinking that I should not eat this way. I decided then that I had to stop this eating, not because I want to be super skinny but because within the last 6 months I have begun having terrible problems with dizziness and bloodpressure. I knew I had to do something.

The next morning I woke up and had aleady decided that I was going to do atkins. So I went to see how much I weighed now. After I stepped on the scale, I absolutely could not believe it. I weighed 254 pounds.!!!!!!!!! I did not even weigh this much while I was nine months pregnant. Actually I weighed about 30 pounds less than that.

So here I am and so far it is has been 2 days with absolutely no cheating. I really hope I can stick with this, I know I have to or its going to be serious health problems.

I don't have diabetes any more and my husband doesnt take medication for his blood pressure or cholesterol because of dr atkins. You can do it if you just stick with it. I weighed 302 lbs and am now 225 if that's not proof i don't know what is. LOL Good luck and keep to it!

Good luck to you and welcome back to Atkins. I am a carb addict also. This is my second time around on Atkins and I will remain on Atkins this time. I know you can do it for longer than three weeks. I wish you much success.

Welcome back to Atkins! Good for you for deciding to re-commit.
Yessssss, you can do it for more than three weeks. After the first phase and after induction flu passes (if you get it), it just gets easier and easier.

Why not pop into the Second Time Around Club? They're a great bunch there and loads of them have gotten to goal on their second (or third or fourth....) Atkins journey.

Use the board lots. Ask questions and make friends. You'll find everyone supportive and understanding.

        Happy losing!

Miranda, welcome! Sometimes this is what it takes to get a handle on our lives. Food addiction is just like a drug addiction. We need to hit bottom before we can pull ourselves up. Good for you for making a wise decision.
