Just another "New Years" new face

I assume like many, I'm making an attempt to dive into this WOL after being AWOL for many years. I've had some good success and not so good success doing atkins in the past. About 5 years ago I lost 60 lbs (my first attempt) but have had only moderate success in attempts since then throughout the years. Almost as if that "golden" chance passed me by.

I'm looking to get involved here in an attempt to help motivate me and keep my head in the right place for this lifestyle.

    Thanks for having me.

        Welcome aboard Jerry.

The 'golden chance' thing is interesting. I think there is no doubting that you lose quickest and easiest the first time (on any diet probably), but that doesn't mean you have shot the golden arrow. The only attempt that really matters is the LAST one, that's the one where you take on board that this is a lifetime plan, and determine that you will live it for life. That's the real 'golden chance' and it is still waiting for you.

It doesn't really matter how fast your weight loss is, it only matters that you make permanent change, embrace this way of eating as a lifetime thing and keep the weight you lose off for good. There are loads of people here at maintenace who got there on their second/third/fourth attempt. I bet that's the one they call golden.

Jerry, welcome aboard! Nice to meet you.
As Kate said, the golden chance really is the chance to make Atkins a plan for life. That's the absolute best way to achieve permanent success.
You'll find the board a terrific place for help, tips and inspiration.

          I wish you every success!

            Re: Fueling the cliche'

Welcome back, Jerry! This is my second time and I lost much better this time. Maybe because I stuck my head in the book and didn't leave anything to chance. I think the reason most don't do as well the second, third, ad infinitum time, is that they 'think' they remember how to do this WOE and they don't remember correctly. Maybe, even the first time, they weren't doing it right--mostly by the way they had 'heard' you eat on Atkins (bacon, steak & cheese). Reread the book, stick around and participate, join a challenge and you will lose the weight and keep it off.

            Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Thanks for all the kind words- I just snagged a copy of the 2002 DANDR from ebay to reread and make sure I'm not doing what I "think" I remember to be correct...

Well said about that "golden" chance...I look forward to participating and learning.

Hi Jerry...welcome to the family. I agree with Sunny...start this time around as if it is the first time. Make plans to achieve your goals, read the book, make friends, get active here in the ADBB and leave the past in the past and make new and exciting committments. It will happen. We're all here to encourage you. You can do it.
