  • New On Day 2

    Hi Everyone,

So glad I found this forum. Let me introduce myself. My name is Laura aka Peachy. I just turned 40yrs old this year and needless to say over the past 4 years the weight has slowly creeped up on me. I know why...lack of exercise, and falling to the "1-meal-a-day" syndrome and that meal is always fast food because the late hours at work.

Funny thing is, I have always been fit my entire my life. I am a certified personal trainer, and have worked in the fitness industry off and on for over 15 years and I know better. It's easy to teach and coach others to lose weight, but ourselves....much harder to do!. Anyways, with many lifestyle changes, battles with depression etc, my weight has gone on a downward spiral and I've known this for some time.

I currently weigh 140-145 pounds. I've always been a healthy and lean 120lbs eating 5 small meals of carbs, protein, and fats....the way us personal trainers have been educated. I have 20 lbs to loose.

I could do it my way. The way I instruct others to loose weight but a TV show on the Akins caught my attention and it grabbed my curiosity well. I bought the book, read it and am very impressed. Despite everything I"ve lived by and been taught, I really want to give Akins a sincere whirl to loose my weight.

I have completed day 2 and feel great. The only thing i notice is that I feel like a burning oven today. I am HOT ( No, not menopause! LOL). I'm wondering if anyone else experiences this on Akins?

I do have questions as some things are a little confusing and I'm sure my questions have been asked so I'll do a search before I ask.

Nice to meet all of you!

Hiya Peachy and welcome to Atkins! It's cool that you read the book and decided to "see for yourself".
I think Atkins can easily be complimentary to the philosophies of personal trainers. This programme leans heavily on exercise for health, not to mention eating a varied diet with loads of veggies (after the induction phase).

I'll be very interested to read your thoughts and impressions. I know those 20 lbs will melt off and you'll be at goal pretty soon.

Sorry, can't answer your "hot" question...but have noticed that someone else mentioned this just recently. Can't remember who or where though. It is true that any weight loss causes hormonal changes and sometimes strange symptoms to do with this, (also irregularities of TOM) but these usually calm down after a few weeks.

      Happy losing!
