    Hi all!

I've been reading the boards for a couple of days now, and I'm really glad I found all of you.

My wife and I had great success with Atkins a couple of years back, I went from 355 down to around 265 over a year, but slowly most of the weight has come back. I've rationalized eating with stress and work and any other BS excuse I could come up with, and I'm tired of that. I'm determined not to get back to my pre-atkins weight, instead get back down below that previous low point.

    This was me around 265:

What I ultimately want is to find that body I had back in the military days again... I know it's in there:

In my entire adult life, low carb has been the only thing that worked for me, and I'm going back on it, with a few other life changes to make a more lasting change this time around. Unforunately my wonderful and supportive wife won't be doing it with me this time, as she's 3 months pregnant, so I'm looking for support in other places.... so ...

This is me today, back around 320, and I just need to reverse this trend!

    Thanks!

    Ron

    Hi Ron,

I'm new here too. Congratulations on being pregnant! How exciting. I also lost weight with atkins prior to having my 3rd child and gave it up due to the pregnancy so I'm back as well. I didn't have this board last time though - just found it while looking around for rules of induction. Everything is here - support, recipes, key parts of the text and some really strong people.

What I like about this way of living is that it nicely matches your body's biochemistry - it works with your body, not against it. Thus, it works.

    Welcome. S-

      Hi Ron-
Ditto all of what you said!! Congratulations on coming back on your own, for a great reason! We CAN do this.
I am back without my DH for now. Atkins is the only thing that has ever worked for me, too. Enjoyed great success May '05 to May '06 with a 55 pound loss, but most of it crept back on in the last 18 months. I decided on Jan 1 that the New Year will start, continue and drag on with or without my weight-loss. I want it, so I started again.
I am finding that it is easier this time around, all the good things (fauxtatoes, spinach breakfast cups and veggies and dip) as well as all the pitfalls (too much cheese each day) are very familiar!!!
      Yippeee! We are all here!

The biggest reason I'm reaching out for more support is not being able to have my wife do this with me. She was such a rock last time, researching recipes, making some amazing atkins friendly meals and the like.

Unfortunately, this pregnancy for her is really rough, meat in general is making her sick to her stomach, so I'm doing most of the cooking. EEEK!

I'm trying to reach out to my gym and find a workout partner as well, but no luck on that front so far.

Thanks Some days I wish I had stuck in and done my 20. I would be retiring next month! (and I'm betting with a lot less soda and cheesecake around the middle!)

Thanks, we spent a few hours last night going over menus and looking at how she can couple main dishes that are friendly for me with what she needs carb wise as well.

I think as I exit induction that's going to be the best thing for us, finding at least dishes we can share

Getting in on the exercise challenges is next, my work schedule is wonky right now (daily conference call at 6am kind of messes up going to the gym before the office...) but I'm not going to let something as silly as that stop me
