Hi everyone, My name is Mary, I am 5 foot 4, I am 35 and will be 36 on 21st January, have two children and I am fat. I have been reading postings on the forum for long now but did not have the courage to join. I discovered about low carb late Oct.2007 on BBC Food and I thought there is my salvation. I started to eat low carb without so much knwoledge about it. I was 103kgs then. Well by the end of Dec I managed to get to 100.8 kgs. Seeing that it works I sent a friend who was travelling to the UK to get me Dr Atkins New Revolutionary Diet Book. I have read it and am still reading it everyday. On 02 Jan this year I though I should give is a shot and this is my 10th day on it. It is difficult here where I live because some of the foods that broaden the variety on Atkins are expensive but this is not going to stop me, I eat plent of meat already so this is like a ticket to indulge in what I already like and we have pleny of leafy veggies so I should guess ther is no excuse. I am tired of people saying that its an African thing to be fat. I knoe there is a thin Mary somewhere amongst the fat I carry and I am going to find. I think this forum is wonderful and supportive. Even if I will not post very often, I will be reading everyday as I have done for the past two months.

Re: Hi from Africa
Welcome to you Mary. I'm really happy you decided to post instead of just reading.
It seems like you have the right mindset to make this work for you, which means that for sure you'll find that "thin Mary" before too long!
Good job on getting hold of the book. It helps a lot to understand how and why this plan works so well.
Best wishes on your journey to better health and a trim figure. We're behind you 100%!Before and after:

Re: Hi from Africa
Thank you everyone. I know I am in the right place. Those b4 and after pictures just make me believe that it is possible. I have joined an aerobics class which I am attending 4x a week. I hope this will help me achieve my goal. I have this thing about onions and tomatoes though. I eat lots of it especially both cooked together or fresh together. I am not sure if it this is ok. Does anyone know how of these I should be consuming? They test rather sweet together.
