  • Day 1 SUCCESS!

Well, I'm back for my 2nd time around! I loved this WOE, and resisted the naysaying Drs, until my mom passed and depression got the better of me an I caved! Well, now the diabetes Dr wants to know what I can do to get my BS under control and I told her and she relented! She's in charge of my diet and diabetes now since I have the pump so I'm not telling my family dr as she even gathered a bunch of "anti-Atkins" paperwork and called me back to the office to pick it up!

Yesterday was day 1 and am calling it successful!! The only thing I did off plan was 1 diet mt dew last evening as I couldn't get rid of my headache! LOL, yes I am a Diet Dew addict along with a carb addict! I ate all my veggies at lunch in a salad and think I should have spread them out a tad because I really wanted some pepper strips last night to just have something to munch on.

Heading to the store today while the kids are at pre-school and school to get some goodies! CHicken breasts are on sale (my fav) and get some different veggies as the only ones in the fridge are some cabbage, lettuce and green peppers. LOL, need a little more variety!

    Re: Day 1 SUCCESS!

Julia, welcome back and great job.

I would definetly spread the carbs out over the day if you can, I know it can be tough in the beginning.

Most people will tell you to stop drinking the diet soda cold turkey. What I did was 2 diet cokes on Day 1, 1 diet coke on Day 2 and then no more. I must admit I was a diet coke junkie, drinking conservatively 3-8 diet cokes a day.

I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER NOT DRINKING DIET COKE NOW. Either way good luck.

    What I know:
    1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.

Thanks for the welcome back! LOL, I have to admit I'm closer to a 2L a day until yesterday! Going to try to do without today, but if the headache strikes again with no relief from tylenol/ibuprofen then I will allow myself another today and try to decrease to 1/2 and then none. LOL, by then what's left in this bottle will be getting flat!!

Successful trip to the grocery! Off to explore my options for a new exercise bike! LOL, DH decided he too is tired of this manual treadmill and ready for a different option!

        Re: Day 1 SUCCESS!

Congratulations on your first day success! I was worried about the caffine withdrawal headache as well (I am a Coke Addict - give me all the sugar) - started getting one but the tylenol thankfully helped me.

Hope your explorations pay off today with your excerise bike!

Welcome back to the Atkins way of eating and welcome to this board! Sounds like you've got it all planned out nicely. Good for you.

Kudos too for weaning yourself off the diet sodas and for the exercise bike plan. Exercise is such a huge help, the sooner you start the better.

Best wishes on your journey to great health and a trim body!
