  • Started, stopped, started, stopped

I have started induction and stopped more times than I can count. I'm starting again tomorrow and I'm feeling intimidated and overwhelmed by my past attempts. Each time I start I go a couple of days and then start to cheat. Usually it is first with eating too much cheese than I have some wine at a social occasion and then I have a few crackers and, well then it all falls apart.

Part of me knows that this will work and another part of me is just so afraid of going through depravation and not loosing weight.

Any thoughts on how I can use this board to help me?

    Re: Started, stopped, started, stopped

    Hi,

I am a lot like you are, i always have the best of intentions but tend to not follow through. I am doing it again right now and have decided that i need to do one thing to get myself through this and the biggest thing i need to recognize and acknowledge is:

I NEED TO BE HONEST WITH MYSELF. I will admit, i am not, i suck at it. I feel like i am two separate people and my bad side is capable of lying to my good side so well that my good side believes it. The little fall here, the little nibble there its like i refuse to acknowledge these instances, pretty much like i don't look at myself in the mirror either, and i won't let anyone near me with a camera.

I think that is one of the most important things people finally do when they can do this plan and follow-through on it, they start being starkly, fully, and bluntly honest with themselves and they admit that they don't like what they are doing or what they see and they utilize this to motivate them into changing what they don't like instead of making excuses.

grins, can you tell this post is just as much for me lol as it is in response to the thread?? lol.

So this weekend, i am going to sit down and take a really good hard blunt look at myself and i am going to stop hiding from what i don't like and instead i am going to do someting about it.

If you make excuses as to why this won't work and you focus on the negative, then you will get what you are thinking -- negative thoughts. Tony Robbins says, if you do what you've always don, you'll get what you have always gotten. That statement is very true in the case of losing weight and changing your way of eating.

This board is great in the support and everything else, but one thing it cannot do is make you be honest with yourself. You can come here, post, etc, but if you are lying to yourself about what is really transpiring, this board can't help you with that. If you use this board as an acknowledgement of accountability and support along with some few home truths to yourself, you will be able to use the information, support, and friendships on this board to push through some of the harder times, but in the end, you have to do the work. You have to make yourself do the work, and you have to acknowledge the work that needs to be done.

All in all lol, there are many people who are in the same boat you find yourself, myself being one of them. There is a place called second time around forum, you may want to pop in there and gather support for youself that you decide will benefit you after your honest look at what you will need to do this.

Hang in there, you are not alone.

Welcome Albs! Good for you for re-committing to Atkins. Hopefully, this board will encourage you to stay for the long haul this time.

Why not check out the Second Time Around Club (STAC). Everyone there has fallen off the wagon once or multiple times. They're a great bunch and very supportive. You'll get good "stick with it" tips there, for sure. Many of the STACers have gone on to reach goal just fine. I hope you do too!

You could also join an exercise challenge or start a journal. Both are fun and motivating.

Post lots and keep us up to date as to your progress. We're with ya!
