  • day 3....and counting!

    Hi Folks,

I just wanted to say hello and to say that I'm on day 3 of the induction phase. aside from a little lightheadedness and tiredness, everything seems to be going well! (sure seems weird eating eggs and bacon for breakfast, though).

I'm 6'2", 350 lbs and a former university football player - this not eating carbs business is a HUGE switch for me. Wish me luck and I'll be sure to keep you posted!

      Hi NOF,

Yes, I do a kettlebell workout on monday, a treadmill work out on tuesday, another kettlebell workout on wednesday, a stationary bike workout thursday, a free weight/exercise ball workout friday, and a slow, long walk saturday. Except for saturday i try and keep my workouts to 45 minutes or less and i try and keep my average heart rate up as high as possible (my highest average so far is 160 bpm, for 40 minutes).

and, using the Ketostyx once a day, today was the first day I went into 'heavy' ketosis. I'm getting married in August and don't want to look like a blimp in the pictures so...I think the Atkins will allow me to lose the weight quickly (but safely) enough that i won't have to worry about it.

what are you doing for your workouts?

Hello to you Chris! Good to have you with us.

Sounds like you've gotten a good exercise routine there. Good for you... it's sooo important. With that and with following the plan to the letter, you'll be looking a lot slimmer and healthier by the time you get married. And yes; with Atkins it definitely is a safe weight loss.

Post lots and ask any questions you might have. We're looking forward to applauding you along the way.

Hi Chris, welcome to the board! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. You will be looking mighty fit by August!

Just a quick little tidbit about the ketostix. Either you're in ketosis, or your not. Even the pinkest color is just fine. When you go darker purple, it's an indicator that you're not drinking enough water, and are dehydrated.

            Great job on the exercising!

Hi Folks, thanks for your supportive replies. I'm trying to get my girlfriend onto Atkins as well but she says she cannot live without her milk and since the two week induction requires cutting out all milk, its a no go for her. Oh well; she's trying the G.I. Diet and exercising and, since she doesn't have as much to lose as i do, she should also be fine.

thanks for the suggestion about the ketostix - i see that i came back to 'mild' after only one day (meaning the 'heavy' was probably the result of a fatty meal and lack of hydration). at any rate, I'm only weighing once every two weeks and measuring once a month but I'll be sure to post my progress!

take care and again, thanks for the support.
