      Re: Atkins In England

Hello there Lulu! Good to have you on board the Atkins train.

Kudos to you for taking control of your eating again. Atkins is the perfect plan for diabetics. You'll find your blood sugar improves in a matter of days.
You're right to want to start exercising. It's soooo helpful, not to mention an integral part of the Atkins plan. Why start in 10 days? The sooner you start (even just adding a few extra minutes walking) the sooner you'll reap the rewards.

Do you have a pedometer? We have a fun challenge (which you'd be welcome to join) where we wear one all day and try to make a personal weekly "step" target. It gets very addictive watching the thing clock up the numbers and it really encourages one to walk that bit more. You can get pedometers for just a few quid in sports shops or at ebay or amazon.

In induction you're allowed one to two tablespoons of psyllium or ground flax seeds (called linseed in the UK) to help with consitpation. There are lots of flaxseed recipes you can use. I like flax crackers. Good to put cheese on.
If you start flax or psyllium, make sure you drink an extra bit of water, or you run the risk of them having the opposite effect (be aware they take a day or two to start working).

      Happy Atkineering!

Lulu, welcome to ADBB! I enjoyed reading your first post there, you've got a great sense of humor. But also, a realistic attitude and coming to the board is the best thing you can do! Do post often, we like to see how our friends are progressing.

          Hi Lulu!

          Fellow UKer here!!

Contrary to popular belief Atkins is not a high protein diet, its a high fat, controlled carbohydrate way of eating, its not a quick fix and if you dont follow it for life you will end up where you started.

Get on that walking NOW, theres no time like the present, exercise is non negotiable! its essential, start walking!

Good luck Lulu and welcome to ADBB!
