My brother lost 24 pounds on the Atkins so I just had to give it a try. I started yesterday. I was very excited to get to the 48 hour mark though. I went and bought some ketostix and already it has shown good results. I am sticking strictly to the list for the induction stage, although I will admit that I have snuck 1 or 2 diet cokes. I look at it as getting off of a bad habit gradually. I only have one when I absolutely NEED it- they are so yummy when they are ice cold.
Anyway my goal is to lose 25-30 pounds and this time I am focused and determined. I find that using the fitday.com for keeping an accurate journal of my foods is excellent. I have been to the grocery store twice and find that going through the aisles can be daunting. I am not going to give up -- I am not a big meat eater so this requires discipline. I have had a bit of constipation and a bit of a headache but not too bad. I am also label-obsessed. I am driving my daughter nuts by telling her what is in her food. It amazes me that food that I thought were really good for me or even just ok really are loaded with CARBS.
My plan is to stay on the induction phase until I lose the goal weight and then move on to the next. I am grateful for these boards. They keep my spirits up when I really want to dive into a bag of sweets. Thanks for all the encouragement- it is nice to know that I am not alone.
