    Hello Everyone !

    This is my first post so I wanted to introduce myself to the group .
    I Started the Atkins Diet on Tuesday January 15,2008 , then I found this group few days ago and decided to join because I need support and I want to give support to other ...
    " I am addicted to food "

    When I was a teenager I became obsessed with my weight , at the time I was 120 pounds . I started starving myself then I switch to becoming bulimic for many years . Then I stopped throwing up my meals because , I could feel my heart beating fast and it was a strain to my body .
    So I stop throwing up my meals and just became a binge eater and packing the pounds .

    This was my way of coping physical and mental abuse from my family .
    I wanted some kind of control of my life and so this is why I have an eating disorder ...

    I have tried many diets and diet pills to control my binge eating but nothing worked .

    So I am trying the Atkins because from what I have read sounds like it might work for me because , it says it takes your cravings of sweets away and that is the key for me to stop over eating .

    I have been on this diet for 3 days str8 and I have not cheated or wanted to cheat .
    I realize I can never have donuts , cake , candy bars because I can't handle it !
    I can't just have one cookie and I know this for a fact ...

    Food to me is like an alcoholic to a drink
    Thank God there is hope for us because we have to eat unlike the other addictions out there ...

    To much sugar in me doesnt mix well ..

    Last year I quit smoking so this year my goal is to be back at what I was when I got married . 110 is my goal weight but this time aground I am going to do it the healthy way and not the wrong way .

    When I was at 110 you would think I was happy but I wasn't I was a mess because I was a bulimic .

    Anyways thank you for reading

    My current weight ~ 177.0

    My goal weight ~ 110

    Welcome puddles! Glad to have you here. You will find plenty of support on this board. We are all here for the same reasons. Food addiction is no different than any other addiction! You're on your way though with a clean inductin so far. Best of luck.

      Welcome! You can do this and this forum is a great wealth of information and support!! Atkins I realize is a way of life... I can't go back to the old food habits unless I want to gain the weight back... sounds like you've come to the same realization. You and I have about the same amount of weight to lose.. so if you ever need someone to talk to or give you kudo's give me a yell

        I started on the 15th also -- today is day 3. After the first day, i woke up really hungry in the morning. This morning, I ate a hearty breakfast and am still full at 1230. i know that i have to eat to keep the metabolism working. You are doing great!!

            Welcome to our Atkins family Puddles! Good to have you with us.

            Yes... it's a true addiction and we're all in the same boat. But you've already discovered that Atkins is the best plan to break the chains of carb dependency.
            The more you starve that sugar monster, the sooner it'll wither and die.
