  • I'm a two timer...

    Hi everyone,

I'm restarting Atkins again. I lost about 40 pounds a few years ago. Unfortunately, it crept back on. I'm determined to keep it off this time. I'm 42 years old and have about 45 pounds to lose. I've already lost 4 in about 8 days so I'm staying strong.

I've been eating what I'm suppose to and quit having my mich ultra's in the evening.

Beginning in February, three of us at my office will begin weekly meetings (15 minutes or so) each week to keep our diets on track. They are not doing Atkins. We decided to do this to make us accountable. I'm looking forward to them.

I'm pretty active already but will step up the activity.

I won't take measurements until this weekend, but my plan is to reach my goal by Easter (estimating 10 pounds per month). I don't want to gain this back so I'm being smarter this time around.

I'm fully confident I can do this. I'm glad I found the atkins bulletin board. It'll be nice to share successes and tips. Notice I didn't say failures!

I look forward to being part of the community!

          Re: I'm a two timer...

Thanks for the replies and support. I was reading Bob Greene's book today. For those who don't know, he's the diet guru that helped Oprah shed the pounds. I'm not reading it to do the diet at this point. I wanted to read his philosophy. He was dead on about figuring out the weight issue. There's always something there - either a life change, frustration, stress, etc. The key to being successful is understanding why we each got to this point to begin with. I'm working through why I ended up where I am. His explanation is finding out why and once you understand it, you can change your life. Just saying I'm not happy being heavy isn't enough or I love food. You have to dig really deep and peel the layers.

So for everyone out there - embrace yourself! Know that today can be better than yesterday and you won't believe how wonderful tomorrow can be!

I've had my share of issues in 2007 and I am more than determined to make 2008 a year that will be something extra special. I will be walking in my third 3-Day event in October. I've been able to finish the last two just fine with no injures or blisters. I want to feel even better this year. It's a hard three days if you aren't prepared. Luckily, I've walked in fantastic weather both times (first in San Diego and then Atlanta).

Have a wonderful Friday and an even better weekend!

          Maxine
