Hi guys - I'm really excited to find this site. There's tons of good information, motivation, and Real People to make this WOE possible for me.
I did Atkins about six years ago with my ex - boy we had a good time! Lost about fifteen-twenty pounds each, cooked yummy stuff... But that was then, this is now. I'm single, work a lot, maintain a mini-ranch with horses, chickens (they should start laying by March!), and my dogs.
I lost a close, close friend on November 24, 2007, and I quit smoking the same day (yes, the two events are related). I loved smoking. I just..don't...do..it..anymore. Period. Now it has come to my attention that I do NOT fit into my clothes anymore, and I have rolls that are inhibiting my free movement. This isn't me! Now I am wiped out from doing stairs or carrying feed and water, and my back (which does have a non-progressive disc injury) is painful all the time. My butt isn't really butt-shaped anymore...it's just kind of out there, y'know?
This can't continue! I am trying to get myself to a more self-sustenance area, food-wise - iow I garden, raise chickens, etc. I have the garden site prepared for this year... If I'm going to stay on induction for a month or so, then go to OWL, what sorts of veggies should I plan on planting in a couple months? I want to have this big master plan in place as an even bigger motivation to NOT cheat, fall of the wagon, etc.
I don't even own a bathroom scale, and I'm fixing that today. I don't even know very much about cooking (and I love bread, but I can get over that) but I know I can learn simple recipes.
I have to lose weight. I will *not* buy more clothes. I *like* all my suits (for dog shows, not for work, eek!) the size they are!
Exercise is a challenge - I live in a rural area that I am not at all comfortable walking the roads. I might become squished like all the flat rabbits. When it's below fifteen degrees F or so, it's awfully hard to make myself do any outdoors exertion at all - the cold air hurts! I'm in an online school, so have thought about what sort of indoor exercise machine would be useful while viewing coursework (they're mostly videos of seminars).
Give me a couple days to get measured/weighed, and I'll have real numbers to work with.
