Hi everyone, my name is Jen and I started induction on January 2nd. I lost 11 pounds on induction. i started at 193.5 pounds and am now 181.5. i have had success on the atkins before and decided to do it again, and to make a commitment to stay away from white flour and sugar (may indulge once a month when i am at goal weight, as i work out every night.) anyway, i have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and a 10 month old son. i told myself when i got pregnant that i wasn't going to really worry about my weight until i was done having children. well, i am done. i am still breastfeeding my son, but the diet hasn't affected my milk supply.

i have moved on to the first rung of the OWL- veggies. plan to stay on each rung for a week or two, depending on the scale.

i have a quick question: if i lost 11 pounds on induction, does that mean i have a low metabolic resistance???

    Re: back again

Welcome back and congrats on your weight loss. I think you're loss is probably in the average degree. The following is from my copy of NDR.

If less than 20 pounds: high 2 average 4 low 6
    20-50 pounds: high 3 average 6 low 9
    over 50 pounds: high 4 average 8 low 12
This chart is for woman only, mens chart is different

I lost about 11 pounds and started at over 200 pounds. When I was younger, I lost 14 pounds, so for me age/metabolism had a small affect.

I think you've done great and look to be on track. I don't know if there is an area here where other new mom might be able to give you more feedback, since you might have different needs due to breastfeeding.

    Hope this helped a little!
    Started Atkins July 2007/ 202/128/135

Goal of 135 reached May 2008!

New goal of 122, hopefully soon!

Hi Soxfan! Welcome to you. 11 pounds on induction is really great, better than most I would say. Everybody is different, but it seems this way of eating (WOE) is right for you!

11 pnds? That's thrilling. You must be so happy. And I like that you think so far to the future too. Keep the loss announcements coming folks. It really showcases how successful we can all be on Atkins as long as we are determined.

                    Re: back again

Your name caught my eye- my hubby proposed to me at Fenway park in 2006, we were married last year. I'm from Vermont but we go to games at least 2-3 times a year, wish we could go more!

                    Anyway, that said...welcome back!!
How are you doing with Atkins this time around? 11 pounds to start is great, any more loss since induction? Have you moved up another rung by now??

sicca- i miss fenway. we only go about once a year. i am in new hampshire. so far, i have lost 19 1/2 pounds. i am on the berry rung now! i have gone from a size 18 to a size 12. i can wear a 14, but they are pretty loose. i hope to be at goal by the end of the summer! this diet is working just fine for me, i am actually not hungry most of the time. but it could be because i spend my day chasing a one-year old AND a two-year old!

                          Re: back again

Oh wow that's so cool! CONGRATS!!! I was so happy when I hit the berry rung because nothing goes better with creams and cheeses than berries!!! MMmmmmm

Yes this way of eating is great, I really like how you can add stuff back in, and you're not limited for life!! I've tinkered with the grains a bit, even whole wheat pasta here and there, but since I'm so CLOSE to hitting goal I really just try to stay on all the other rungs....This way of eating also helped me have a healthier winter, normally I'm sick like 4 or 5 times by now...I have to give credit to the water, vitamins, and extra veggies.

You're going to laugh---but I can't WAIT until I am chasing my babies around. I turn 30 in October, at that time I am planning on going off the pill... my husband and I are eager to start a family- hopefully this time next year I'll be expecting, we'll see...I may be seeking all sorts of advice from you!! As an Atkineer, a Sox Fan, and a new Mom we'll have all sorts of stuff to talk about!!
