Hi Everyone! It was really nice to find this place and be able to share and read some events going on in our lives. I lost 65 pounds on Atkins 3 years ago and had a great, new, outlook on life...my husband also lost 30 pounds and was feeling great. Then wham, I had a minor heart attack and I guess a melt down, we have heart conditions throughout our family and it was genetics. Anyway, over three years I have gained it all back, so here I am...starting again...it's going rather slow this time around..so kind of frustrated at this point, but hanging in there. My name is Julie...I am 49...( yikes!) and mother of three sons, happily married and looking forward to shedding all this and feeling better. Nice to meet everyone and getting to know you all!

Re: New here, but not new to Atkins
WELCOME JULIE!
It's so nice to meet you. You will be successful again. This is the healthiest lifestyle there is, especially for your heart. When you look at it as a lifestyle and not a diet it will become less frustrating for you. Even though it may be slow going for you now, you will be much healthier with this woe (way of eating).
Post often and if you have any questions there are plenty here eager to help. I look forward to seeing more of you here. Best of health and lite to you and yours Julie.

Re: New here, but not new to Atkins
Thanks to both of you...and I do look at it that way...I just strayed for 3 years...LOL! I just re-read the way of life book...just to re-introduce myself to all of it again...I am just terribly frustrated right now, things are going very slowly...if not at a dead stop weight wise...I posted on the second time around club and asked a few questions...I am really going slow this time, probably because of the heart meds I have to take right now...and wondering if it will work this time.

Re: New here, but not new to Atkins
Warm welcome back Jdcoop! Sorry to hear about your health issues; but, if only for those alone, you made a terrific decision to re-commit to this way of eating. It worked for you before... it'll work for you again, I'm sure. Be patient and think direction rather than speed. The second time around is slower for many, but with a bit of tenacity that weight will go. We're here to help you highlight (by process of elimination and suggestions) any possible stallers like meds etc.
Do you exercise at all? That's an important part of the plan and a huge help to speeding up the "shrinkage". You might like to join a challenge or two... they're fun and motivating and you can choose one of the easier ones or one of the more demanding, depending on your level of fitness.
Post lots and ask any questions you might have. We're all rooting for you! Before and after:

Re: New here, but not new to Atkins
I do exercise...and the only difference right now is I do it daily...and feel great.. this has become a real challege this time and I posted more info over on second time around. I am in a real struggle here. But determined, it's just hard ya know when you have stuck to this for almost 3 weeks, ( tomorrow) and only see a weight gain! I am going the wrong way here.

Good for you, for exercising!Originally posted by JdcoopI do exercise...and the only difference right now is I do it daily...and feel great.. this has become a real challege this time and I posted more info over on second time around. Hang in there and stay on plan. It can take several weeks the second time around. This has happened to me before (though on another diet than Atkins). The second time around, I only lost like 2 lbs in over six weeks... and was sticking to the plan rigidly. Eventually, I broke through that and started losing.
If you like, post a few menus in the "Review my Menu" forum, to get some tips and helpful advice.
Do you know if your heart meds have adverse side effects weightwise? If so, can you reduce dosages at all (under the docs supervision though). Before and after:
