  • Hello everyone...

After reading around on the board for a while and getting up the courage to post, I think I am finally ready to get started on this new "way of life."

I've got around 150 pounds to lose. It's going to be a while, but I'm very happy to have found such a good community here - from what I've read so far, this is a great place to be.

I low carbed YEARS ago and had fantastic success with it then. I didn't learn my lesson: this is a way of life, not a diet. So now I'm back, with the right perspective. I know the "second time around" is often a lot slower than the first, but thats OK, I'm in it for the long haul.
"...This glancing life is like a morning star
A setting sun, or rolling waves at sea
A gentle breeze or lightning in a storm
A dancing dream of all eternity...

    Re: Hello everyone...

Warm welcome to you TGL! Good to have you with us.
Sounds like you're very committed this time around, which is great. Also, to get into the mindset that Atkins is a lifestyle rather than a diet is really wise. With that approach you'll be successful for sure.

Post lots, ask questions and use the board and all it offers. We're looking forward to applauding you all the way to target!
    Before and after:

Start 10 Jan 2005. Maintenance since Aug. 2005.

Hey Glancing. Welcome to the ADBB! You have definitely come to the right place. You will find tons of information and support here. Make sure you stop by the Century Club. It's for those of us with 100 or more pounds to lose. We have a daily 'roll call' thread where we check in everyday. Come Join Us! I look forward to seeing you around the board.

        Re: Hello everyone...

Hey Glancing, Welcome...I too have a lot of weight to lose...but I have changed my mindset from looking at it like "I have a lot of weight to lose"...to "25 lbs till my next mini goal" I think setting mini goals really helps...doesnt make the task seem so daunting.
Also join some of the challenges here...they are really motivating. I just joined the "springing into action" one in the century club...and pledged to lose 25 lbs by march 21st. The challenges will really help you stay focused.

Best of luck to you...were right here with you!!!

Welcome TGL! I am also new here, but I have found that it has been very motivating to me. I find myself wanting to get on the ADBB frequently for support, find new recipes, etc. My sister recommended ADBB, and she was right. It's great!! I too had tried Atkin's a couple of years ago and lost 60lbs., but I didn't stick with it. I promised to myself I would not do that because it takes a lot of work, but here I am. We can do it TGL...hang in there.
