  • Hello everyone

Hi, thought I'd say hello as this seems like a great place to learn about how to do atkins correctly.

I'm a 29 year old male from from the UK. I did an attempt at the atkins a few years ago (although this wasn't really done properly, I just ate lots of cooked fatty foods and stopped eating most of the stuff you shouldn't) lost about a stone but then then I seemd to stop losing weight so fell off the wagon.

Started again on saturday more strictly but had a lapse yesterday and had some coke and a packet of crisps (nice though)

That kind of helped me refocus though as it put the last few days efforts to waste. Also today I found some of the foods I had been eating (salami and burgers had ingredients I shouldn't of eaten, potato starch in the burgers and lactose in the salami)

So once again I have refocused, and am going to begin compiling a list of things that I used to eat that I can still eat (eggs, bacon and salad ect ect) which seems to make things easier, the water drinking has never been a problem and I also drink green tea but I beleive it's caffinated, but from what I've read here that really doesn't matter too much.

So that's about it really, I hope I can stay with it this time.

One thing I'm not sure of though is how much I want to lose, I never weighed myself when I was ok, so I don't know what I want to go back to so I'm just going to take it a week at a time.

If anyone else in the UK can recommend anything tasty from places like Tesco, Lidls ect ect that would be nice.

One last thing, I got some decaffinated green tea with citrus today but the Ingredients list several flavourings, I'd like to drink it but am not sure.

It is Twinings Decaffeinated Green Tea Citrus, and the ingredients are (vague)

Green tea, lemon falvouring, lemon grass, citric acid, natural lime flavouring, orange flavouring and lemon pieces.

I take it I should not drink it (regardless of how nice it smells)

    Thanks for reading!

    Re: Hello everyone

Welcome to the board. Best thing to do is get the book, but make sure it is the 2002 book. Until you can get the book, go to the Induction forum and read the sticky links there. You want to make sure you do it right!

    Good luck.

          Re: Hello everyone

          Welcome, welcome!

Crisps are my most tempting thing so I'm not surprised you fell off the wagon with them! I can't even have them in the house or I start thinking "just one little packet won't kill me!" I'm not sure about the tea, I looked it up on the Twinings website but no luck. A lot of flavourings are made with sugar so you might want to forego the tea just to be on the safe side during induction (you don't want sneaky carbs messing up your clean induction!).

As for food items from Tesco, etc. I'm afraid mostly the best thing to do is to buy fresh meats and veggies and prepare them yourself so I can't really think of any good prepackaged items... Tesco does do a range of different kinds of sausages (like jalapeno or cheese and onion) that I quite like. The carb count in them is a bit higher than normal so just be sure to check them before you eat. Waitrose does chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce and if I am in a hurry for lunch I will have that without the peanut sauce and they are really nice. Also I keep a little bag of mini pepperami salami snacks so if I am hungry I can have one of those. Hope some of these are helpful!

As for not knowing how much you want to weigh- is there a particular size you want to be? So instead of saying I want to weigh X you could say that you want to fit into a size X?

You can absolutely stay with it this time, use this board as a resource for questions and support- it is amazingly helpful. Good luck!!

Me too! So tasty but my boyfriend thinks they smell bad! They are the best for a snack on the go, especially the mini version but I can rarely eat just one of the mini ones!
