  • First timer here - glad to have found this site.

    Hi there,
I am a first timer on this plan.

I have been on the induction for 9 days and have lost 2.6 kg (5 and half lbs) so am feeling positive.

I am a Brit living out in Taiwan so I have my own special difficulties with label reading etc. as everything is in chinese!!

I am having to stick to just plain meat (pork, beef and chicken) and fresh green veggies. I have found Kraft Mayo in some of the shops tho, which is a godsend. I am also getting acquainted with tofu as a source of protein, that is something that is plentiful and cheap here!!

Cheese on the other hand is very expensive, as the Chinese do not really have a big dairy intake in their traditional diet. I am really learning to appreciate a tasty piece of Emmental or a tangy slice of cheddar. Butter is available, but only unsalted and therefore a little bland.

But all in all, I am going to crack this diet!! I have ordered some Advantage bars from E-bay and am treating myself to one every other day.

So I just wanted to drop in and say "Hi".

Ooh, I nearly forgot, if anyone has any soybean recipes that work for Atkins, could they point me in the right direction? I had a quick search but couldn't find much.

    That's it, over and out!!

    Rach xx

Welcome to the board and good luck. You have found a great place.

      What I know:
      1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.

Welcome aboard Rach! Nice to have you join us here at ADBB.

How exciting to live in Taiwan! Sounds like you'll be doing a very healthy version of Atkins, using only fresh and unprocessed foods. That's great, actually (except for those label reading probs!) and is how Atkins is meant to be.

Just a word of warning: Be careful of the bars... if you notice you're stalling, drop them. They really do stall lots of people and half the ingredients are not induction friendly. Atkins Nutritionals is a business that cares more about making money than about your health.

          Happy losing!

Hi Rach & welcome Follow Sally's advice on the bars and try to stay away from them if at all possibly, especially while you are on induction.. there are plenty of great alternatives out there for when you are craving something sweet. Do a search of this site or go to Lindas Low Carb Recipe website.

            Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the advice, I appreciate it!

I'm learning how to do interesting things with tofu as well, as that is so cheap and plentiful here.

Tofu, butter and a fresh chili pepper in a fry up - deliciously spicy.

I will heed your advice about the bars, thanks for the heads up.
