Hi! My name is Erin and I am trying Atkins for the first time. I never been the type to eat much, but when I did eat I would eat a whole lot of the wrong type of carbs. So, I love drinking a 20oz bottle of coke, then later go to Starbucks to get a Venti Pepermint Mocha, a cookie then maybe a pizza for dinner....since I am a graduate student, I need suger to keep me going...but...really...
So I ate a lot of the wrong stuff. It was easy!
My top weight was almost 300 lbs (about 5 years ago, and since then, I have lost it, but not due to any diet. I gained a good majority of it when I stopped playing basketball in high school (I was heavy then...people were amazed that someone my size could keep up w/ all the skinny girls!), and in college I did do track and field, but actually, I have been heavy all my life. The only time I was "skinny" was when I was 9...then bam!
So, I have started exercising (got a trainer for awhile) and I am at 240 (I am 6'1), age 25 years, and even though I really don't look like I weigh that much...but I know.
I have known about Atkins and actually had a friend do it (she lost a 80lbs but it all came back
), but just perusing all the success stories and looking at the photos really motivates me.
I just started yesterday (Saturday), and so far so good. I think it is easier to do this because at school, I am in charge of my diet...at home, I HAD to eat what was cooked for dinner...so carbs galore!
Ah, this was long. Just that I am excited to start this and I think incorporating good eating habits along side exercising will help me tremendously.
Thanks!!!
