  • NEW!! Starting over =)

    Hi Everyone

I'm new and starting over once again. I was on Atkin's previously and lost a ton of weight but somewhere along the line I quit doing it altogether and gained most of my weight back. I have a consult with a surgeon next Tuesday for Gastric Bypass (Roux-En-Y LAP) but after a lot of thought I have decided to go back on Atkin's and if this doesn't work, by this time next year I am going to go through with the surgery. My weight is currently at 255.8 pounds and I am not happy at all, when I was on this program I got down to 220 and when I had started I was about 270 pounds. I really hope to make new friends and find a ton of support along the way, I'm definately going to need it!

    Have a great morning!

Welcome back!! Are you ready to get back to a healthy weight and way of living? You can do this! My family has always struggled with weight and being the fat girls at school and church - although we preferred to call ourselves athletic and big boned. I also thought of surgery but could not afford it. I started in mid Jan and have had good success - it is a daily thing for me- each moment I have to chose what I eat and don't eat. I cheated once and learned a very valuable lesson! Journal every day and let all of us celebrate your successes!!

Hi! Thankyou =) I am definately ready to make a change in my life and for good this time. I had been researching Gastric Bypass for 2 years now and finally when I got up the nerve to go through with it, I came across the memorial section of the forum I belong to and sat here crying my eyes out. There are so many men and women close to my age who passed away due to blood clots, intestinal blockages and other things which could potentially happen to me. After a lot of soul searching I decided to use the surgery as my VERY LAST resort because I surely don't want to die right now. I have three beautiful children and a wonderful husband who would be devastated if anything happened to me. So here I am ready to make a permanent change in my life!

I have read the book and was able to follow the program without any cheats until one day I just let loose on any and everything I could eat. The weight slowly krept back on and here I am today feeling miserable and all because I couldn't control myself.

Wow, your story is so touching (gave me chills)...I was right where you were the first of the year. (you should come join us at the century club - its a great group)

If I can do, you can do it!

btw...you are beautiful now...cant wait to see your transformation!

            Hi Kim

I too know what you mean about giving in just a little and then bam..you're up to heaven knows how many pounds. I lost about 40 lbs with atkins but then I just stopped cold. I didn't build up my carbs slowly the way I should have, so it didn't become a "lifestyle" change for me. It stayed as a diet, and of course I gained it all back (and then some) NOt this time though.

I am also starting over today too so you are not alone
I hope you have a wonderful day filled with hope.
