  • I'm back and ready for a change

So I am a returning atkins dieter, when I was fifteen I started the atkins diet and was about 5'11' 192 pounds, I left the diet four and 1/2 months later weighing in at 152 pounds a 40 pound loss. I went from a size 15/16 to a size 9/10. I was so happy and I have kept it off for the past 4 years. I even managed to go down to 141 pounds, But hear I site four years later, ready to loose a few more pounds. Now as most people say and beliveve that after quitting the diet and eating carbs again u will gain your weight back. Not true in my case. I have been eating carbs for the last couple of years and currenly weight 154 pounds. Two pounds heavery then when I left atkins four years ago. Now not to say I'm teriffic but this diet has help me alot and now I want to loose about 15 max pound and go back to about 140, so hear I am almost done with induction and ready to see a change.

Welcome. Seems like you are ready to tackle another round. You probably should review the basic rules just in case. How wonderful that you kept your weight off. And we all eat carbs on this diet - we just watch them a bit more than most most people do. Good luck.

Well said, Liv! Atkins is definitely NOT no carb... it's low carb, and we pay special attention to the quality of the carbs.

I think that re-reading the book is an excellent idea. And I was just wondering... When you say that you started eating carbs again and maintained your weight - do you mean that you started eating refined carbs again? If so, do you plan on eating them again after reaching goal? Dr. A stressed that for maximum health benefits, this is a way of life. What this means, is that we don't view Atkins as a way to lose weight, and then go off of it. We eat this way to be healthy... weight loss is just a nice perk.

Since you've done this before, perhaps you would like to check out our STAC forum (Second Time Around Club). It is for folks like us, who have done Atkins before and have strayed from plan. Tons of great people, support, and motivation there.

Here are a few links to get you started... the first one is a website that many of us use for recipes. The rest are places around the board that may be of interest to you. Good luck!
