  • A new start, saying no to surgery

Hi, my name is Rosa, Im 38 years old, from Mexico, Im trying for the last time to make a diference, getting rid of all my bad habits and wanting a healthier and happy way of living.

My family has insisted that I get the bypass surgery, but something inside me is screaming that I shouldnt, so I will hear my intuition and do what is more natural and logical, eat well and exercise.

I hope I can find the motivation to do so, I have tried since I was 15 to lose weight, have tried all the diets posible, and all have work, but I always abandon them and go back to my weight and then some more, till the point that Im starting to have problems with my knees and back, among other things.

I cant talk much to my family about this cause they want me to do things their way and they get very desperate with my health problem.

I hope also to find friends here and find the inspiration among all the people that are in this forum.

Welcome aboard!! I recently started Atkins and this has been the easiest diet I've tried thus far. Atkins is meant to be a lifestyle--not just a diet and I honestly feel that I can make this a lifestyle. Even after I get to my goal weight. Like you, I've been on plenty of diets and lost weight--only to gain it all back, +some. I'm honestly sick of that whole scenario. The +some is what baffles me. But, here we are. We have decided to

Welcome aboard PinkBatel! Good to have you with us.
You did a wonderful thing in listening to your intuition. Atkins works and is easy to do for life, once you get into the swing of it. We'll help you.

Whenever you feel like caving, just think of the alternative (surgery). You're so right... eating in a healthy way and exercising is a far better option. You can make this work for you... believe in yourself. The right mindset is really important. Tell yourself daily that you can do this, and take things a day at a time. Those days will soon mount up and become weeks, months, years...

Post lots and make friends here at ADBB. We're all behind you 100%.

Welcome aboard! We are glad to have you join us. I know you can do this! After you first prove it to yourself, then your family will come on board. You also first have to believe in yourself. Doubts and negative attitudes will win every time. You'll find a lot of support right here. Do you have the book??? Have you read it? You need to know the facts and the true induction foods list to make a go of this.

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Re: A new start, saying no to surgery

            Hello again,

Thank you all for the wonderful welcoming, I have been feeling quite well with this three days of diet, is so strange but I already feel more comfortable with some of my cloths that were to tight, I started loosing weight a year ago with acupuncture and dieting, but I got to a point after 30 lbs. down I couldnt lose more weight and I got desperate about it and lost my motivation, specially cause my doctor thought I didnt do things right or cheated on my diet, but it wasnt the case, in fact I made a lot of exercise, walking and some pilates and still not lose any pounds. I weight in january 07 329.6 lb. and got to 297.18 lb. I went from a size 30 to a 24 but then stop, and I was losing two pounds in a week and then got it back the next, and that happen for 2 months, I really felt disapointed with myself and stop all dieting, exercise and acupuncture. So I started to gain all the weight back, right now I weight 320, almost the same.

But I did it on my own and I always felt I needed some type of support from someone that could understand what I was going thru, Im the only that has been fat almost all my life, my parents were very athletic and also my brothers and sister, so they dont know what it feels to live thinking all the time that you are the strange one of the group, I mean, they love me, but its just that they dont understand it.

So thank you for your support, I hope to keep motivated to do what I know its the best thing for me,

            Rosa
