Hi new guy here, i have used the Atkins/low carb diets several times to lose weight in the past then like a moron go off them resume my old eating habits and gain back the weight.I think the worst part is that people i know will then say ah ha! I told you low carb doesn't work, I hate that! it's as if they are saying my lack of disciplne/willpower is due to the Atkins diet. I have never done the Atkins diet the way the late great Dr Atkins prescribed it, I stay in induction until I lose what I want then go off. I am a nurse by trade I am 41 years old, have an amazing wife whom I am still passionately in love with after 18 years and we have 3 teenage children(God help us) two girls and one boy. My username is the name of a magazine dedicated to the longest running love affair of my life THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES!!. Okay this has gone on way too long I hope to be able to learn and share what I have learned on this board.

Re: new guy here
Sounds like a plan. I noticed there is a boot camp section on here although it's not active, I think I need an actual boot camp one where there serve only induction friendly foods. Re: new guy here
Welcome in! I have the same feeling. I did Atkins amazingly well the first time, but not really the "right" way.. I dropped the excess 50 lbs doing Induction and never moved to any other rung.. then I let skinny go to my head and ate right how I did before: nothing but sweets and chips, basically. Then folks would go, "See? Low Carb cant last forever!" without realizing that, in NO diet plan are all cookies and chips ever acceptable lol, and it wasn't the diet that failed.
So post lots if you can. I find a direct link to how hard I try to how often I'm holding myself accountable in these forums! =)Start: 162.0 | Current: 161.0 | Goal: 120 | Age/Height: 25/4'9" | RESTART DATE: 09-01-2008 | PHASE: Induction

Re: new guy here
OK so my induction peroid was supposed to end on Monday but it went so well (I lost12 pounds
)that I have decided to extend for one more week. I have lifted weights 4 times in each of the first two weeks and will continue to do so as time permits I at least want to lift 3 times per week. I despise cardio I have a treadmill and stationary bike and I hate to use either, I feel like a gerbil running on a little wheel in my cage. I did manage to do 20 minutes on the treadmill three times in the past 2 weeks thanks to Mettalica on my Ipod. I have noticed a loss of strength on all lifts
I am attributing to carb depletion and I have been contemplating using some fom of carb cycling. Has anyone on here who lifts ever experimented with a cyclic ketogenic diet and if so what were your experiences with it in terms of fat loss and strength gains etc. Thanks for any help
