Good morning everyone,
I am a married, childless 27 year old woman. I have PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome, as well as Hypothyroidism. I wasn't overweight growing up, in fact I was pretty slender and active in sports. Once I hit 19-20 years old, it was piling on like you wouldn't believe. In January of 2003, when I was 22, I weighed myself at a gym and couldn't believe the number that was staring back at me... 249 lbs. I started eating "healthier" that day, and 9 days later I joined Weight Watchers for the first (of many) time at 241. To make a really long story short, I got down to 180 lbs by September of 2003 - and after that I gained it all back and then some (my new all time high was 294.1 lbs). Many attempts and fails between then and now. January of this year, my work started a challenge (you can read about it in my blog http://imonmyweighdown.blogspot.com - need to update it, it's been about 2 weeks) to lose weight, with the 1st place prize being close to $500 - a good chunk of change! Anyway, I started losing weight by making healthier choices, etc. and found myself with a month left for the contest and in 2nd place - and I want to win! So, I thought I'd do Atkins Induction to boost my weight loss and put me in first place. To be honest, my intention was soley to do it to win this contest. I never imagined how I'd feel now. I never realized how easy it really is. It's what I should have been doing all along for my PCOS - maybe it will help my fertility issues!
I'm not sure if I will win 1st place in the contest or not, but I think I am coming to peace with that. I am winning so much more: a slimmer body, a healthier lifestyle, new friends via my blog and now I've found you guys here! I'm definitely in a better place now, and am looking forward to getting to know you all and reading up and all this wealth of knowledge that you've accumulated here. I'm very happy to be here!
