First off my name is Kevin and i'm 25. I just started Atkins today, and hope to lose 140 lbs on it. I'm going to try my best to stick with it, since none of the other diets seem to work for me. I love these forums, which I found a few days ago with the success stories and before and after pictures. I also really like how everyone supports each other in their weight loss.

Re: New to Atkins
This is definitely a good place to be. We are glad you are here! Do you have the book and have you read it? We follow DANDR 2002 edition here as it was the last book that was purely written by Dr. Atkins.
140 pounds is a lot to lose but it can be done. When I get to my goal weight I will have lost over 100 pounds. It isn't easy but with the support I find here, I am able to keep going. I dont' know what I would have done without the friends I have made here.
Read a lot, post a lot and join the challenges. The more active you are, the more likely you are to be successful!

Hey Kevin, Welcome to the ADBB! The support you'll find here is great. If you get a chance make sure you stop by the Century Club Forum. It's for those of us with 100 or more pounds to lose. We have a daily roll call to check in with each other. Come join us.

Re: New to Atkins
Welcome Kevin. So happy to have you join us. I've lost 130 so far, my goal at beginning was 145 ~ so can relate to the anticipation you are feeling. My advice is read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002. Read it and plan for your success. Write out why you want to lose, how you will do it and then come here often and surround yourself with those who will encourage you to succeed. Make lots of friends and embrace the changes you are making for your health and your life. Get active in the forums, challenges and develop a positive attitude about making it happen.
Motivate yourself with baby steps. Its not a race, its a life-style change. You can do it. We're all here for you. Welcome to the family!Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.
