Hi Nichola, have you read the book? There are some things you need to be in store for. One in particular, the Atkin's flu. Around day 3 or 4 you might start feeling bad. This is just your body fighting your carb addictions. This is the purpose of induction, to clean your system out. So just be prepared and have a lot of induction friendly foods around you so you won't fall off the wagon. Once it passes and you complete a clean induction, you will feel much better!

Spend a lot of time reading and participating here for support. You can do this! It is good you have the support of your boyfriend.

      Welcome to the board!

Well before you get the book, make sure you copy off the acceptable list and take it with you everywhere. Also need to eat at least 2-3 cups of veggies a day, not just protein. This is a great diet.

Yes, until you get the book you can also read the sticky threads in the induction forum.

Re: Hello New Girl on a mission

I like eggs in the beginning because they are the perfect ratio. You want your induction ratio to be around 65% fat, 5% carbs, and 30% protein. So I might have:

                Breakfast: 2 eggs with bacon

                snack: 1 cup cucumber

Lunch: smoked porkchop (or 2!), 1 cup lettuce and 1/2 cup tomato salad with 1 oz mozzarella cheese

Dinner: Large hamburger patty with 1 oz cheddar cheese melted on top and some veggie like steamed broccoli (1/2 cup chopped).

I would snack on pork rinds at night if I got hungry. A good thing to snack on is boiled eggs too, or make devilled eggs. I once made deviled eggs with canned crab meat and once with canned shrimp. Very tasty. You get fat and protien in good amounts.

We are only allowed 3 Splenda a day but I just ended up completely giving them up and I rarely have sweet cravings. It made it a lot better for me. I mostly gave up on caffeine too. I occasionally have an unsweetened tea but that is only like maybe once a week. Once you get past induction, most likely your appetite will decrease. Mine got to the point where I had to make myself eat.

Yeah, you want to get your veggies in on induction. They are not that many and are vital.
