  • Anxious about eggs!

    Hello everyone- I am new to the Atkins program and I am strating Monday! I am so excited after reading all the posts and success stories- and the support seems fabulous! Here is the thing that has held me back from ever doing Atkins in the past... I cannot eat eggs... I have tried them here, there, and everywhere (Sam I Am), and since I was a child, I do not eat them. I also have the same issue with seafood- tuna, etc... a true carbo addict I am! Does anyone have alternate meals for people in my shoes?

    Hello Im Nichola, I started today and feel really good so far. Unfortunatley im a caveman at heart so i havent any advice but thought id say hi ya and good luck xx

      I've gone weeks without eating eggs, just eat something else. I got tired of them and they fell out of favor with me and I DO NOT like tuna at all. I will eat it and it will make my stomach cramp for the rest of the day. I just eat:
      - grilled, boiled or rotissery chicken
      - I don't eat a lot of processed meat but I will occasionally eat bacon.
      - smoked pork chops (they are already cooked and you just have to heat them up in a pan)
      - hamburger patties with cheese melted on them.
      - beef/roast put in a crock pot with just water, salt, and onions
      - prime rib
      - any steak
      - tri-tip (have for dinner or save for slices over salad or for the morning. I love this stuff)

      There are really endless options meat-wise you can go. Here is a website you can look at. Everything marked with a * is induction friendly.

            Warm welcome to ADBB and Atkins! Nice to have you join us.

            You can do Atkins fine without eggs... plenty of meat and veggies to start with and some cheese... then after induction (which only need be two weeks) you can start climbing the OWL (ongoing weight loss) rungs and adding nuts, fruit, more cheese, legumes... and gradually all sorts of other goodies, as long as they're natural and not highly processed.
            You'll be fine.
