  • New here, but not to Atkins...

Hi everyone. I'm so happy to have found this board. I went on Atkins 5 years ago and was incredibly successful. Then - I went off, and as you can very well guess, gained almost all the weight back. I am now at my "all time" high weight.

After all these years of trying to go on Atkins again and failing so often, I'm doing it again. But things are different this time, because I am going to keep it simple, and record everything I eat and my exercising. Hopefully by forcing myself to record everything I do online and in my "weight loss blog," I can hold myself accountable.

My first goal is simply to feel better about my weight by the time I go to commencement on May 10th. Its about 40 days away, and I have absolutely no delusions of losing any substantial amount of weight until then. However, it would mean so much to me to be at my hooding ceremony (master's degree - yay!) and not feel as fat as I do right now. Its sort of an ambiguous goal, but I am confident that if I stay completely on plan and exercise 1 hour a day for 6 days a week from now until then, I will feel better.

I look foward to chatting with everyone! I realize now that this is a lifestyle, and not a diet - so I'll be here for a long, long time
    Started - 4/1/2008.

I'm keeping myself accountable by blogging and recording everything that goes into my mouth.

Don't let the amount you need to lose discourage you. In 40 days, you'll be glad you started now and not later. This is a LIFESTYLE-(as you already know) and knowing this truly helps me stay motivated and not think of it as a diet that will end one day, so that keeps me from getting caught up in the numbers and weighing game. You've been successful before and you can do it again!!

        Stay positive and HAPPY LOSING!!!

Welcome ForeverFree (wonderful nic btw!)! Good to have you with us.
You'll certainly be feeling much better by the time you get your Masters degree (hearty congrats!). You'll also be slimmer and happier in your skin, if you follow the plan to the letter.

Sounds like you are really committed for the long haul this time around. Yippee! That's the absolute right mindset for success. It's so worth it, as the longer you eat this way, the easier it becomes. I can promise you, that after a while you won't feel deprived at all. Always focus on all the wonderful things you can eat, not the trashy carbs that are bad for you.

          Happy losing!
